I make it 43 senior players in total currently at club

Updated for Dorrans and Hastie.

No Kent just yet.

I think Holt and Dodoo might get payoffs but we really need Grezda our the door.

Final first team squad at 28 players which includes Grezda.

I wonder if he might get a chance to train with the first team again seeing as no one took him.

There’s no way we’re paying off his final 3 years.

That’s good as we were away up at 38 or something ridiculous before the cull

That’s the current amount of players I count that we have at different parts of their careers with us.

I count some of the youth players as senior as guys like Barjonas, Rudden and Mayo might be needed for European squad rules. Also included youth players on loan that have been heavily involved in first team training.

Quite a few players are out of contract at the end of this season as well so this time next season I would expect a tighter pool and we might be able to spend more on wages for even better players again.

Listed below as I see it.

If I have missed anyone let me know and I will edit

Haha, 27 (28) if you include grezda

I’d love to know what Grezda does on a daily basis?

Does he actually train with the first team squad or not?

I think he's going to have to.

He's worth too much to be with the kids squad. Assuming his attitude is correct, bring him back, get him fit and let's see if a chance or two comes up .

We need to work to get him ready to selling in January.

After Dorrans and Dodoo, we cannot afford any more costly pay offs. This needs to end.

"What's your point, caller?"

We now have two very competitive teams and genuine backup options for every position.

McGregor
Tav Goldson Katic Flanagan
Jack Davis Aribo
Arfield Morelos Kent

Foderingham
Polster Helander Edmundson Barisic
Docherty Kamara King
Ojo Defoe Jones

Other: Firth, Halliday, Barker, Murphy, Stewart

About the right size of squad now . Should now be a one in one out . I would expect over the next next couple of windows a very few transfers but those bought to be of quality and first team starters

The Andy king loan is bizarre and pointless for me.........we sent Docherty out on season long loan to improve he did that played extremely well in pre season but barely had a kick this season. He now finds himself totally out the picture with no prospect of getting the amount of games he needs.

Loaning king will stifle our own player

Much more manageable. Shame it's probably cost quite a bit to get rid of some deadwood.

King adds quality that Doc doesn't have and is apparently a minimal outlay.

The flip side to the large number of players there is we are starting to assemble a real basket of assets, the club is looking good moving forward.

The good thins is that we have the ability to play several different formations with the squad that we now have. Previously we only had the players for one formation which caused issues.

The only thing I would have liked was a third choice for the strikers but I imagine that Kent can also do that as we saw at paedo park last year.

The squad is ideal in terms of numbers and make up. You could argue a few positions could be strengthened (LB for instance). But we can’t have everything.

I'd have King on over Docherty every day of the week.

Docs has a terrific workrate and level of fitness, but in all honesty I never really come away from games feeling he's stood out or brought anything special to the game.

He's the definition of squad filler for me at the moment and I'm actually quite surprised he's not gone back out on loan for another year. Especially with the players, like King, who have come in.

SG must still have faith in him or think he'll be useful for squad rotation as the season goes on, but for me he doesn't show the kind of quality to be a first-team regular in the long-term.

Hope to be proven wrong, but I think he'll always be a bit-part player for us.

Don't know much about King but it's obvious SG doesn't trust Docherty.I said months ago that Kelly was a far better player than Docherty and I'm positive he will replace him next year and go on to be an absolute star

With what club ?

Adds quality to the bench without playing are you seriously suggesting it was a good and sensible signing ?
Are you suggesting we should have passed up the chance to get a guy in on the cheap who has an EPL medal?

The other good thing about the squad now is that only three of them are on loan the rest are our players. In previous years it's been 5 or more on loan.

I had high hopes for Docherty when he signed for us but it just hasn’t worked out for the lad and it doesn’t appear that SG rates him which is a shame.
