If our interest in Wilshere is genuine

Yes pay as you play is the only deal to fo with like someone who is injury prone like Wiltshire

Doubt if many players would sign a pay if you play deal, more likely small basic wage big bonus for playing

This is exactly the type of panic buy you could see Lawwell making to kid on he’s has got one over us and to deflect the flak from himself.

His insistence on playing out the Scottish Cup is looking mighty stupid now.

Panic buy??

Do these contracts exist in reality?
Not strictly speaking as if the player got injured and never played so didn’t get any money it would be a breach of the minimum wage rules.

As some others have suggested it would technically have to be a lower basic wage with bonuses. Not sure how that would work if the player was fit but not selected as the player would lose out big time.

Have we ever had a player on our books who has done this?

Don't think anybody has since the 70's but that doesn't stop it bizarrely being suggested on here all the time.

And before anyone brings up Andy Carroll, he's still on a basic wage of about £25k a week without playing.

If he's as injury prone as people are suggesting I'd say no deal. We've had our share of these.

If the wages are right and it’s a short term deal can’t understand what the opposition to the move would be.

Worst case scenario - he struggles for fitness and we release him next summer with minimal financial loss.

Best case scenario - we get a player who if fully fit is the best player in Scotland.

Spurs are currently humping West Ham 3 - 0. If Wiltshire was capable of producing what he did in the past I doubt they'd have let him go.
