Imagine, if you will...

I frucking enjoy these posts. :))

Shadenfraude isn’t an endearing characteristic, but sometimes it bloody well rocks! :))
I enjoy them too. I stick my head into kerrydale street every now and then and it is glorious to read just how much anger there is. They are casting it in every direction. The best part though, by far, is the small few who are grasping what is actually happening here; The majority are still saying we are shite, will collapse, not very good but a few have woken up to the fact we are, and this is a direct quote from tonight

'Skooshed their group.
Skooshing the league.
Unbeaten home or away in Europe in December.

King though. Money though.'

This chap knows the score :D

Imagine having won 11 trophies in a row, being in the final for a 12th and pissing off your own board to the extent that they create a mini Israeli state in the middle of Palestine (they will love that analogy) and fence it off to keep you out.

Imagine your board being so worried about how you are going to react to the players and staff that they ban sections of the media from turning up, ban fan media from turning up, try to limit who sees the game to start with and generally try to micro manage the flow of information out of their stadium.

Imagine seeing your most well known supporters group release a statement and banner that you immediately praise to the heavens, which is then turned into several thousand individual parody sketches that leave everyone in football laughing at you.

Imagine being petrified of opening a Bet365 or PaddyPower tweet.

On a night where the third weekend protest in a row is arranged for this coming Sunday.

The reason they are going so crazy is that they know every word in the OP is correct. They know they had a chance to build something and their board have thrown it all away.

In a sense Rangers are their Kryptonite it's all they care about.
Their arrogance and lording it over us clouds any ambition.

Every mentally challenged I've spoken to at my work has more or less conceded the league they just don't have the fight in them unreal the so called gfitw, they are drowning and as time goes on if we keep the pressure up they will sink.

This thread is over 2 weeks old. Their protests were not even slightly difficult to predict. To be fair, I was not expecting it to be quite this spectacular quite this quick.

In all the time I’ve been on FF this is quite simply one of the best posts I’ve seen on here.
Their meltdown and destruction will be complete once the courts start processing the up and coming child sex abuse cases and awarding compo....they're gonna be a fucking car park, only bigger.

There’s a lot of truth in that, but if we’re being perfectly fair, it was only three or four years ago that Saint Brendan led them to an unbeaten league campaign and a couple of trebles while rubbing shoulders with the likes of Barcelona, PSG and Man City in the CL (albeit not very successfully) at the same time as we were just struggling to keep afloat in the top flight and suffering routine 4 and 5 goal maulings at their manky hands.

At that point you’d have found very few people anywhere in the country regardless of allegiance who thought that would come to an abrupt end.

As many of their own are now saying, the blame lies with the arrogance, short sightedness and habitual penny pinching of the Yahoo boardroom when they decided to appoint a managerial clod hopper like Lennon to replace Rodgers.

We said ourselves that was potentially great news for us and so it’s beginning to look.
Absolutely.
I think Rodgers had great intentions for them but clocked on to the real truth that their board and their so called loyal fans were a waste of f uckin time and a bunch of stale losers.

Imagine how much of a disconnect you would feel from your club if they had told you, to stop literal riots, that they would reconsider the manager's position in January and to hang fire until then.

Imagine waving your team off at the airport as they jet to a week in the sun off the back of a third consecutive loss to Rangers, with that manager still in charge.

Imagine 19 points between you and the club you claim has only existed for a few short years and imagine knowing that if you manage to win all 3 of your games in hand, you will STILL be 10 behind them, with a rake of goals to make up too.

Imagine being out of every competition you had entered by Jan 2nd.

Now have a wash.

They had 9 years free run at the champions league telling us every season here comes another £30 million. Well where is that money? Is it sitting in a bank account waiting to pay compensation for the abuse of those poor kids. Dirty pedo bas***ds

Imagine knowing the season can mathematically be over before the end of March, your manager is fighting with your players, you have just lost at home to st mirren and nothing by way of changes seems to be coming...

Imagine being so fixated by 'Ra 10' that you kept players you should have sold at their peak and now see them dwindling in both desire and value.

Imagine seeing million after million walk out the door every month with nothing to show for it.

Imagine openly boasting about how much cash you have, then having your overdraft facility come into play in a short space of time because you took your eye so badly off the ball that things crumbled.

Make absolutely no mistakes here, the average scum fan is absolutely distraught at how Rangers are doing, but they have a mixture of dread and anger at how such a dominant position can be pissed away so quickly. They know that their 'leaders' have squandered a once in a millennia chance to assert themselves and by looking the wrong way, they are walking away in second place with nothing but a period of lean times ahead.

The stupid people are actually about to compound all of this, by first grabbing refunds on season tickets, and by then refusing to back their club in difficult times.

Glorious.

I think that the reason we were given this chance is the fact that today, with things looking like they could potentially be going our way, their anger is not at the chance lost to move ahead of us for good, it is anger at the possibility of not getting that 10.

It is almost as if they feel, to a man, woman or goblin, that they 'win football' if they win this league.

It does, in all seriousness, show their mindset; They do not love their club as a club. They love their club as a handy vehicle to facilitate the hatred of OUR club. For club, read 'People'.
My thoughts are they were duped by Lieswell and the rest of his Merry press men into believing The Ten was everything, This was for two main reasons
No 1, it made them out to be some sort of history makers and gave them the mindset that they have done something incredible and unequalled
No 2 The real reason this has been hyped through the roof is money, Celtic are and always have been all about money, the amount of merchandise that they would have punted to the gullible on the false ten would have been a massive cash boost to them, it’s all that matters to the powers that be at the chamber of secrets
They built up the ten as they thought it was a given, it really is quite funny to watch all the socialist wannabes who couldn’t wait to tell everybody they had pure mullions and belittle every other teams finances
They have been taken for a big ride by the Glasgow Japanese, who is now seen as a pariah, but the one thing they can give him credit for is the placemen he has running through Scottish football
Normal service is being resumed, Rangers at the top with the puddle drinkers looking up at us, long may it continue

Imagine that our manager had just won 3 titles in a row and decided to leave a season or so after our only rival had been booted down the leagues. Imagine we had a clean slate, no pressure, a minimum of 3-4-5-6 years unopposed CL money to aim at, were playing in a league where the nearest rivals were nowhere near and where we could literally rip up the entire fabric of the club, rebuild it in whatever manner we wanted, putting whatever foundations we wanted in place, whatever youth set up, whatever scouting network and we could do it while still pretty much walking the league. Imagine we could have picked any manager we wanted to oversee a rebuild/remodel and we were afforded the utter luxury of doing it with no pressure on the domestic front and with a yearly shot at a free jackpot. Imagine we had enough cash in the bank to openly gloat about it.

Imagine being nearly a decade down the line and having focused so hard on 'The 10' that absolutely every single advantage we had was pissed away on bringing in players to win a single title. Imagine the manager that had left us after 3 to try his luck in England had been given the 'honour' of securing that '10' and was in the process of making an arse of it. Imagine that despite that near decade of freedom, we were STILL in a position where our youth set up was producing nothing and we HAD to sell our top player every season or face economic catastrophe. Imagine being so fucking petrified of one club, several divisions below us, that we gave up the chance to remodel our own club into something that would have been impossible to catch in favour of the short term goal of 'getting one over them'.

You would be angry. You would be absolutely fucking livid. You would have seen your club literally win a lottery for millions upon millions of quid and immediately spend it all on a fancy car and fancy house, ignoring future income and the chance to invest wisely. You would have seen them enjoy the money for a decade and then wonder why they were not still rolling in it as the neighbours started to come home with better cars than them.

Ignoring what is happening now in terms of league titles in a row, our 55, whatever, the facts are fucking simple; Deep down they ALL know that they had an absolute cast iron chance to leave Rangers in a position where catching them would be nearly impossible. They could have literally built a new entire ethos/model/whatever you want to call it around themselves, unopposed, and left us behind. Even if they manage to overhaul us in this league race they all know, deep down, that they have given up a glorious chance to 'win' and that by putting so much on 'The 10' they have ignored absolutely everything else they could and should have been doing. They wanted nothing other than short term pain for us, and were so fucking myopic that they failed to see that by looking at the short term, they were missing a gaping wide open goal. Whether it is this season, next, or the one after, we will sit on top of the pile again and that is something even a little strategic thinking over the way could have stopped easily.

I am, when I think about it, delighted that they could not see their way to actually using the time they were handed on a plate but I am stunned at our luck (is it luck? We were lucky that they did not try and build, but the root of that was their hubris, rather than a random act of chance) in them being so fucking hateful that they were interested in nothing more than a cheap and ultimately meaningless bragging right.

Imagine you were one of them and once the revulsion has worn off, imagine just how angry you would be at watching that glorious open goal being ignored in favour of a chance, nothing more than that, a chance, at 'The 10'. You would be livid.

Declan, get yourself to the carpark.
I have better things to use my imagination on thanks

Good call. It is a weird relationship between their support and the club, with the support holding the club up as some kind of vehicle for social justice, and the club milking the support for all they are worth.

Imagine closing out the first week in March knowing that if you win your game in hand, the title will likely be decided at your own stadium against a side that has proven it has the beating of you. Imagine being faced with the choice of offering yourselves up on the alter of all things blue today, or delaying it and worsening the pain in a couple of weeks time.

"Can you see The Rangers coming?" they asked while looking in their rear view mirror. Instead of looking behind them, they should have looked up and seen the white lines across the sky. We were never following on the same road as them. We were traveling business class on a different level.

I remember as we were coming through the leagues, Timmy here and there asking me if I am looking at the premier league. I didn’t care about the garbage there, I focused on one job only. The job of what league we were in, getting out of it, winning it. Only once we got back to the Premier League I cared again. They knew exactly who we were playing, our points total, our goal difference et all. We must take this chance to rub it in, for a short while, then get back on with our obsession, ourselves. Let them get twisted, torn up and split into pieces with their unhealthy obsession of Rangers and getting one over us. Time to get a few titles under our belt, dream bigger, dream European silverware. There’s more to Glasgow Rangers than getting one over “them”, we are about success, titles. Time to make immortals.

This is the last bump!

The job is done, 'the ten' is gone and all they have to look forward to now is uncertainty. How hollow must it all feel to them now? They know, for a certainty, that they had us at every disadvantage they could dream of; From income to cash at hand, from a squad and backroom staff to trips in Europe. They literally could not have been handed any more of an advantage. And they have blown it in such a manner as they are now faced with a rebuild of their own, with less resources, less stature and a support that is angry and jaded. They had everything they wanted in their hands and they did not even see it turn to shit, because they were too busy being hoodwinked by the smoke and mirrors employed by their own damn club :D

Absolutely glorious and they will all, to a sub-human scumbag, be absolutely devastated.

I said the last one was the last bump, but I woke up this morning to the thread on their meeting and I could not resist this one. Everything in the OP absolutely true. Just imagine their feelings today. They had absolutely everything and they railroaded their own board into a narrow focus to the extent that nothing else mattered and now, when things have turned sour, they have looked to the new man coming in for some hope and he has just told them, in plain English, that if they do not cough up for season tickets there will be an impact on their recruitment, that every single part of the club needs to be modernised and that they still do not have a manager.

The depths they have dropped to, from the height they started at, is staggering and each and every one of them must be reeling from it. The best thing they can do is withhold their money I think, make sure desmond knows exactly what they think of him and his employees ;)

I love a guy that bumps his own threads :p

It’s fair game though. The position they’re now in remains part of the same problem you outline

Whilst they obsessed with winning TIAR at the expense of longer term sustainability, they are likely to make a similar mistake now as the green and grey rabble demand the new regime wins the title back immediately.

Privately McKay, Howe (if it is to be him) and whoever takes up their DoF role may have a more realistic and achievable timeframe in mind, but it is unlikely to be accommodated by the shark throwing brigade who’ll be in the car park before Xmas if the new broom doesn’t sweep in instant success.

Stock up on the popcorn would be my advice.

I hope one of the lurkers reads the OP every time I bump it and it makes them cry a little.

It is my favourite post of the year, as in my favourite that I wrote, not favourite that I have seen!

Imagine seeing your only real rival make such a difference to the co-efficient that little Scotland gained an automatic entry to the CL riches and imagine going into the first season that allows this with no manager in place, the target you pulled your pants down for over the course of 3 months having told you to bolt over the amount of cash you had, your second choice taking a job at Parma and being left with a 55 year old unknown quantity who had only ever bought a grand total of £1.6 million worth of players, over 25 years, and £0 worth of European players. Imagine trying to polish that particular turd a few days after season ticket renewal begging letters went out, while your board knew that Howe had said no, but they were willing to use his name to try and sell tickets anyway, despite being 'in advanced talks' with Crocodile Dundee United.

Brendan Rodgers-Neil Lennon-John Kennedy (interim)-Ange.

You would not be happy.

Far be it for me to make suggestions to tgfitw, however I might suggest that now would be a grand old time to get yourselves into that carpark.

Ach, one last one...:D

Imagine pinning your hopes on your rivals losing a pre-season friendly to Tranmere, only to watch them out-play and beat Real Madrid 14 days later, and a day after you took a hiding at home to West Ham.

Imagine your brand new manager telling the world he is not there to entertain and not there to keep players happy, as you watch your team get pumped and while half your team want out.

Imagine the fear at heading into a season that gift wraps a cool £30 million for the winner...

This is like Rolling Stones Farewell Tours.

This is the last bump.

No, this is the last bump.

Okay, this is the last bump.

I just hope you keep bumping it. Great thread and original post.

Yet again their downfall has been prioritising their hatred of us over support for their own vile club.
Glorious and long may it continue.

Imagine going to Denmark needing to win to progress to the next qualification stage if the CL with the worst defence and goalie in the world :)

and yet there‘s legions of the unwashed who still firmly believe that last season was a freak result

if we win this years titles I can see us going on a wee run of wins as they will need a full clear out. The moment I knew we had a real good chance of the title was after their champions league exit where Lennon came out and said that ‘ he has several players who don’t want to be here’
They identified players that didn’t want to be there in July/august. They stayed.

they identified that January they needed to overhaul things on and off the park. I say, overhaul, I mean, ‘rip up’ I think in their words.

what did have they done? Forced to sack lennon and brought in a massive punt. With the same back room team and that’s about it beyond a couple of obscure signings.

it’s baffling in equal measure brilliant

I can't fathom how badly they seem to be run. I think I'm still suffering some PTSD from the Charles Green era as I sort of assumed they were being well run, as compared to how we were being run, well, you know the rest.

But they are an absolute shambles. Getting Rodgers was a lucky break for then which only came about as his stock had taken a hammering. Outside that they have been run abysmally.

Imagine if we'd lost that semi and came up against Delilah. I think Warburton would have taken him.

This year is unfathomable. A moron can tell they are pish. They've had problems since last summer, and sacked there manager months ago. Yet they still don't seem to be any further on.

It's glorious :))

I think this week justifies a wee bump of this thread :D

Imagine getting papped out of 3 European competitions in record time, as the first club ever to manage it and then set your sights on a domestic treble. imagine losing that treble to a side that had played extra time in a European 1/4 final a handful of days before, when they physically outlasted you in a second extra time of the week.

Imagine being handed the title only to see it completely overshadowed by 'the opposition' reaching a winnable European final less than a decade after playing in the bottom tier.

Imagine having had near a full decade of free hits to try and build something worthwhile and credible on the big stage and being so fucking parochial and small minded that all you cared about was beating a team you claim died anyway.

You would be raging. Scared and raging.

Aye, but they play Angeball
So who’s the real winner? :))

Well said.

But to be honest, the last thing I'm thinking about after Thursday is those dirty, manky, cave dwellers.

I can't believe how privileged we are to watch a side that goes out and wins European ties against top competition, against the odds. Reaching a European final in 2008 was impressive, reaching one in 2022, when money is the driving factor in football and our squad cost less than a single transfer fee for a player on the opposing team in the semi final...it's just spectacular.

It takes us out of the little Scottish football fishbowl, where "winning 10" against teams like St.Mirren and Ross County are prioritized over competitive competitions. It earns us respect across the globe, even If domestically its the same sad old media with the same old stories.

Considering how much they drone on about their win in 1967, albeit in a much different and easier time to win in Europe when money wasn't hardly the factor it is now, a Europa League Trophy is easily worth 11 league titles in my opinion. Because when is the chance going to come again? 15, 20, 30 years?

Us making a European final has hurt them just as much if not more as 55, I guarantee that.
