Jaap Stam - 97/98

Apologies if this has already been posted but just reading the most recent edition of Four Four Two and noticed we were after Jaap Stam in 97-98 before he signed for Man Utd. Does anyone remember that? What a signing that would have been.

Were strong rumours back in the day that we had talks with Bergkamp who was keen until Arsenal came in. Also that Hasselbaink was at Ibrox about to sign then his agent got a call from Chelsea saying they’d match wages. No idea if either are true mind you.
