James Lawrence, front page of the early Sunday Mail (wrong pic)

The threads been pulled but apparently we are in for Anderlecht centre back james Lawrence, story is from Scott McDermott, who is one of the (few) good guys.

Wales international who has never played in the UK, anyone ever watched him?

Had a nightmare against Croatia.

Considering it’s basically pre season hard to judge him on one performance though, must be decent if we are willing to bid that amount.

Would rather not spend 3 million on a defender when he might not even start. There's other positions where that kind of money would be better suited.

Without meaning to be negative he doesn't look great in the highlights of the recent Wales games where he is arguably to blame for all the goals - looks slow, poor in the air and with bad positional sense.

Think if we're spending 3m on a player it would be better spent on other areas of the team where we need it more.

Doesn't make for great viewing, but those were his first games since April 21st tbf so would still be willing to give him a chance if we did sign him.

I'm assuming his point is that we signed Kamara from the team who finished bottom.

So a teams poor league position doesn't necessarily mean all their players are shit.
Yeah but if you want to use rhetoric that lacks any really depth then surely the side that would win that argument would be those saying that the majority of the team probably were shit - as Dundee almost certainly were.

Of course the majority of the team are shit. But you have to trust the manager's instinct and that he is signing one of the good ones.

For what it's worth I would imagine the vast majority of the anderlecht team would walk into any Scottish side apart from us or them.

In fairness they’ve been fairly accurate this season with reporting, although I’m sure that’s proably down to the fact the club are feeding news out

Seemingly very weak for a centre back - not what we need if that’s the case. Haven’t heard of him, lot of money.

Watched the Croatia v Wales game (mostly to see Barisic)
Liked the look of Mepham the other welsh CB. This is the lad that scored the OG

Mepham cost Bournemouth £12 million in January. Didn’t overly impress at that level although it’s early for him.

Sad that they can go and spend another £13 million on the lad Kelly from Bristol City who is also untried at the top level.

Anderlecht are a decent side so you’d have to assume he has something about him.
OK, I meant 'where', then, obvs.

I'm not an avid Belgian league watcher.
No that’s for sure, small town club Genk won their league this season, so as per FF some smart arses thinking because a team like Anderlecht once where the big guns doesn’t automatically mean they still are now, ala us.

Agreed but they’re big fish in a small pond just like us and saw fit to bring him aboard. Intriguing.

Just because they finished 6th doesn't mean they doing have a few decent players does it ?
