James McFadden - Radio Scotland

James McFadden is on Open Goal. Ryan Jack was recently interviewed on Open Goal and explained the day before Dortmund GVB took the players on the training ground and told them we are going man for man toe to toe.

He then set us up to go there and win. We barely trained before the game due to our schedule and Gio laid out the plan and the players went and executed it.

McFadden knows this.

We had 10 attempts on goal against them, 5 on target and scored 4.
They had 10 attempts on goal against them, 3 on target and scored 1.

We had 5 corners to Dortmund’s 4
They had 4 corners to Dortmund’s 8

McGregor made 2 saves to Schmeichel’s 7

Dortmund had 13 goal attempts against us with 4 on target and 17 against them with 14 on target

But aye, we parked the bus…..what a spasmo

Tims and facts are like oil and water.

When we went to Dortmund we had a manager who knew how to set up against a top European side, unlike the tactically naive St Brenda who has continually failed at every opportunity!

That's amazing.

We just got randomly lucky four times then while defending for our lives?
That (apart from the number of goals) is what we did away to Lyon to be fair, but Dortmund we played exceptionally well and could have scored more. ‘Faddy’ is working overtime to cope with his beloved team being a laughing stock outside the place everything is rigged in their favour.

Last night Tom English was asking McFadden & Bonnar about how Rangers went to Dortmund a couple of years ago and got a result. What did Rangers do differently etc.

McFadden basically said we went over there and shut up shop and hoped for a result. Utter bunkem from an alleged ‘impartial’ journalist.

We went there, went man to man, and scored four goals against a better than the one that beat Celtic last night. It was one of the best European results in Scottish football history.

Mcfadden is a complete cock if that's what he said.

You don't score 4 goals away in Europe when shutting up shop.

We respected our opponents, had a game plan and executed it perfectly. We controlled large parts of the game

The scum didn't respect the quality of opposition. They went there with their chaos brand of football and got handed their fxxking arses.

Actually, we dominated the ball, won the midfield, were clever tactically, had forwards and defenders who won their individual battles, and were clinical when it mattered.

But that would be too much like praising Rangers if he said it.
It would be too much like giving a proper analysis of a game too. Something he is entirely incapable of, even on his best day. I think he's dumb enough to actually believe what he was saying there was factual.

In the same conversation brains Bonner said “Celtic will take no lessons from Rangers regarding Europe” The utter arrogance rips out that shower o sh1te.

They probably should. Clearing up domestically and being utterly hopeless in Europe annoys their fans immensely.

Meanwhile the number of scalps Rangers have taken since 2018 is nothing short of remarkable for a side playing second fiddle in this backwater league.

Teams in Scotland don't get away with what Dortmund done last night.
They hassled and pressed them on the ball to win it back and force errors and slack passes.
In Scotland, that results in free kicks to celtc and bookings for the opposition, early bookings too which neuters players for the rest of the game.
100% correct - Roofe's disallowed goal against the peasants being a fantastic example.

McFadden sometimes comes across as ok and is generally one of the better ones. However, he is a bit thick.
I've always felt that he's pretty good at keeping a lid on his rabid leanings publicly, but every now and then the mask really slips and you get a good look at what he's about.

Your 2nd point, I think you're being kind - he's VERY thick.

Aribo was inches away from making it 5-1 at one point. Parked the bus right enough.

Dortmund were in the europa league, with us. So, not to lessen the magnitude of our result and performance, as dortmund were CL finalists a few months ago and are in the CL again- the team they currently have is better than the one we dealt with.

mcfadden is a clown though

Feels like the appropriate thread for a delve into the stats I took 15 minutes over

Brendan Rodgers record against Top 5 leagues as Celtic manager is 1 win in 19

With the aggregate score 58-13

Since they had Rangers eliminated from the SPL in 2012, Celtic have conceded 4 or more goals in a UEFA match 15 times

They have been horsed 4 or more for 6 seasons running.

Not true at all.

Your first point, not your second.

Correct ...teams in Scotland wouldn't have got one penalty never mind two with our " fair minded " totally neutral referees in charge .Looks like their new goalie is well past his sell buy date , and how bad were plug and the wee jump the dykes, McGregor and Taylor made to look, even their goal had an element of luck about it, with the ball bouncing of odd jobs shin.

I'd love him to explain how the feck you go to "shut up shop" and score four goals?!

McFadden is thick as shit.
Before a ball was kicked in Brenda's 2nd season, I heard him on Radio Shortbread state "And who is to say Celtic won't go the entire season unbeaten again...."

This went unchallenged.

Team away from home in Europe scores 4 (four) goals...James McFadden "They shut up shop and hoped for that result".

Ok you fucking spangle.

Scotland 2024 .... Tims and Nationalists stick their fingers in their ears and decide what they want the narrative to be and it's rolled out as fact .... in the words of Jack Nicholson ' They cant handle the truth'

The truth is that Giovanni Van Bronckhorst was a tactical genius for us in Europe and he outsmarted Dortmund big time

Dortmund were lucky we weren't further ahead by full time. But shut up shop, aye...

What a lot of shite, we shut up shop how does that work when we scored 4 goals

Thanks, McFadden. You just made me go back and watch the highlights of those two games. Still get goosebumps.

7-4 (Morelos' goal stood) on aggregate against a European behemoth, but you're right: we parked the bus.

Fanny doesn't even begin to cover it.

Third time they've shipped 7 goals in Europe in last eight years ,
the two previous being 0-7 Barcelona ( 2016 ) , 1-7 PSG. ( 2017 ).
Carrying the flag for Scotland , only thing being they carry any flag apart from the Saltire or the Union flag....fcukin vermin.
