Jim Goodwin Given Eight Match Ban

Here's a question for the SFA.

If a manager sincerely believes that an opposition player is cheating, why is it wrong for him to call this out?

How is cheating supposed to be stamped out of the game, when those who call it out are the ones being punished?

The referee makes a judgement call at the time about whether or not to award a penalty. After the game, Goodwin is entitled to call Porteous a cheat if that is what he believes. Porteous is then entitled to defend himself and say he isn't a cheat.

The SFA do not need to get involved. People should be allowed to express an opinion. Others can then agree or disagree.

But "making offensive comments" which are "not in the best interests of Scottish football"?

Do me a favour.

Especially riles me when such comments can be demonstrably proven to be true, it’s right there with Porteous in front of our eyes every week. He amongst several others, not naming any Japanese or Portuguese players in particular.

i have no time for Goodwin, but he was telling the truth.

Was Porteous not cited for simulation to get a penalty ? Is that not what happened to Beasley ?

Reactions: SCG
According to Sportsound he mentioned to the ref before the game to watch our for Porteous' simulation. Trying to affect the referee's performance may have contributed to the severity of the punishment.

Attempted leg break tackle. 2 game ban.
Calling out a cheat in an interview 8 games.
Giving abuse back in a private conversation which was uploaded on the internet on the sly. 10 games.

Talk about having your priorities back to front.

Can’t stand Goodwin but the guy was right in what he said about that cheat. 8 game ban for telling the truth, ffs that’s harsh.

Ridiculous decision.

We are all Jim Goo……….. nah. Fück that. He’s a fanny and deserves his 8 games. :))

How strange, I thought it was only big bad bigoted unreasonable Rangers fans who had a problem with the big fucking eejit.

FF...Porteous is a cheating prick, someone needs to call him out bleuuuugghhhh, aaaaargh (rage sounds )

Manager calls him out, gets excessive ban.

FF...Manager is a fucking prick, hate him, deserves it etc.

Weird as %^*&!

If he gets interview, and he asks the question - if a card player tries to obtain an advantage by dealing from the bottom of the pack of cards, which is against the rules of the game, what do you call that player/person?

If a football player tries to obtain an advantage by carrying out an action that is outside of the rules of the game, and tries to fool the referee to get a penalty or an opposition player sent off, what do you call that player?

In both cases the answer is cheat!

Come on now Jim, you should know only ONE team can do and say as they like without repercussions.

Yet Celtic did the exact same toward the refs last season at their agm and surprise surprise no action taken from the league or the sfa.

The games rigged in one teams favour yet they still think somehow their down trodden and everyone in Scottish football is a mason and out to cheat them. Couldn’t make this shit up.

It’s a shocking decision and although he may not be pleased at being the one taking the brunt of this, but the attention it will now get within the press and game itself, Porteous will have his card well and truly marked and referees will pause for thought when he falls like a lump of wood at the slightest of touches within the box.
No they won’t they will do their usual and let him do what he wants until he ends the career of someone then they might go after him but if it’s like the last time he’ll play the mental health card and the corduroy cruisader will be there to write a two page spread on how the bigots are driving him out of Scotland.

Yet Fhilth managers and players like Sutton have called refs and other clubs cheats, who will ever forget Suttons outburst about Jimmy Calderwood and Dunfermline FC.

Lafferty says uses a naughty word for a joke - 10 games.

Goodwin calls out a player for cheating - 8 games.

A player can go in and break someone’s leg - 2 games max probably.

System is broken.

Should have grounds for appeal based on previous similar stuff. Lomas when managing St Johnstone got 2 match suspended ban.

Steve Lomas given suspended two-match ban after branding Ross County ace Richard Brittain a cheat

THE St Johnstone boss was infuriated by the County skipper's reaction to a coming together with Rowan Vine which ended with the Saints striker being sent off.

ST JOHNSTONE manager Steve Lomas has been handed a two-match ban for labelling Ross County skipper Richie Brittain a cheat.

But the SFA have suspended the sentence until the end of the season and told him it will only come into effect if he steps out of line again.

Lomas fell foul of disciplinary beaks after hitting out at Brittain for his behaviour during Saints’ 2-1 win at Victoria Park on September 22.

Perth striker Rowan Vine was sent off for the second time this season and suspended for three matches for violent conduct after a clash with County midfielder Brittain.

But Lomas said: “Brittain’s reaction was an absolute scandal.

“He is a very good player but for him to go down like that to try to get a player sent off? He should be disgusted with himself.

“He is meant to be a competitive midfield enforcer but he should be embarrassed with what he did. For me it’s cheating.”

The SFA decided the comments from Lomas breached their Rule 71 and accused the Northern Irish manager of “not acting in the best interests of
football by making improper and insulting comments in a media
interview, suggesting an opposing
player cheated in order to get another player sent off.”

Lomas declined to comment.

Dreary me, what wrong with our game?

Goodwin and Laff get massive bans for speaking the truth and hammer throwers (like Porteous) only get three games when they deliberately try to injure skilled players

What a fkd up world

Completely agree mate, but this should have been nipped in the bud on the day if only the same people who suspended him had VAR in place at the START of the season.

No wonder people look at us as a tin pot league.

Can't stand Goodwin but as usual SFA go over the top with the length of ban. He was only telling us what we already knew that Porteous is a f*cking lying scummy cheat on the park. He will be a nail on to sign for the paedos. Will be interesting to see what length of ban Kyle Lafferty receives from these SFA morons.
