John Motson retiring

No one .... absolutely no one could say the word "Lineker" like Motson could.

(Mike Channon doesn`t count ;) )

Funnily enough, the first goal that pops into my head with Motson is Lineker's opener in the 86 FA Cup final.

Compared to some of the fuds on BBC Scotland, Sky and BT nowadays he reigns supreme.

See he's retiring at the end of the season.

Have to say I can't stand the old fud. Full of his own self importance and seems to have a knack for missing obvious incidents and interpreting things wrong.

Tin hat on, but for me Barry Davies was always a better commentator from the BBC golden era (i.e when it was just them and ITV).

Motson was number one for me and only commentated on football, none of this ice hockey, ice skating and volleyball nonsense that Davies commented on

I prefer the old school commentary, they seemed much more informed even if they weren't!

Never liked him to be honest. Should have retired ages ago, just comes across as a shouty bumbling old guy these days.

Oh, and I fucking HATE the way he says "Rooooooneeey!"
