Birmingham City youngster Jude Bellingham has reportedly agreed a deal to sign for Borussia Dortmund.

The 17-year-old has been at the centre of a huge transfer tussle between several of Europe's leading clubs in recent months but now the Bundesliga side appear to have finally got their man.

According to German outlet BILD, Bellingham has agreed terms on a move to Dortmund in a deal worth €25million (£22.5m). It will make him the most expensive youngster in Bundesliga history

Cracking deal for Birmingham but weren’t Man U rumoured to be signing him for double that? Most likely COVID has played a part in the deal and worked in Dortmund’s favour.

there’s a piece about it in the Athletic today, Utd were after him too and actually had Sir Alex and Cantona go round to convince him and his family, Dortmund did a better job of convincing them of his long term development with them.

He he develops like the rest of the youngsters Dortmund have, then he'll be worth 3 times that in just a few years.

Seems like a lot of money but could be a be a shrewd investment.

His Dad is his agent and trousers 10% apparently.
Dortmund definitely have confidence in playing youngsters whereas in EPL they would languish in Under age group, go out on loan etc before they get a chance. Some clubs do however, Liverpool with Alexander Arnold, City with Foden, Utd with Greenwood. Chelsea biggest offenders imo.

Dortmund are doing great business. Buy hyped youngsters from England knowing they can't lose. Will recoup at least what they've spent even if things don't work out as planned.

Chelsea are the biggest offenders?

They regularly play Reece James, Fikayo Tomori, Billy Gilmour, Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount.

Chelsea have been biggest offenders for a number of years but I don’t think you could accuse them of that at moment. They were forced into it almost with transfer ban but now have plenty of youngsters getting first team action e.g. Abraham, Mount, James, and Gilmour before his injury.

Tammy Abraham (3), Mason Mount(2) Fikayo Timori (2) and Reece James all been out on loans. Billy got a chance this year to be fair. Lampard probably more likely to take chance with youngsters than previous managers.

He’s been getting better all the time, so it’s a good move for him.

Eyewatering fee for a youngster, I imagine the taxman will take a big chunk of it.

He's tailor made for Dortmund....

Can you imagine the meltdown on Dortmund's version of FF?
"£22.5m for a f.ucking wean? Have they lost their mind?"
"Who is he? Never heard of him?" quickly followed by "He's amazing, watched him his whole career (6months)" quickly followed by "I have also watched his whole career (6months), he's shite"

I wonder if Manu stepped away from this deal to help facilitate a move for Sancho.

Sure Dortmund will be happy for them to pay over the odds for this guy a few years down the line.

And people still want to take 15m for morelos
The thing is this boy is ENGLISH, that alone inflates the price a good few million. They know if he go's there and plays well then they will easily get treble that fee in a couple of years.

Think this is gonna happen too. Sancho, even at his age, has experience that Bellingham just doesnt have yet and imo is worth paying for.

They were wondering the same thing when Dortmund signed Haaland. The reality is that he just seen Dortmund as the better choice.

Played 38, scored 4 and has 3 assists.

yet people talk Morelos down to £10million after 3 quarters of a season with 30 goals including 8 in 8 European games

You are aware that Bellingham is a midfielder, right? He's also 7 years younger. Morelos does the business up here most of the time, but he is also a loose cannon that has one International goal to his name for mighty Columbia. If top clubs really rated him he would have gone by now whether we liked it or not.

Dortmund’s final league game saw 6 Germans in the squad and only 2 in the starting XI.

Red Bull Leipzig had the exact same figures for their last match.

Think it shows how cyclical churning out talent is. 10 years ago you had the likes of Ozil, Gotze, Reus, Boateng, Hummels, Kroos, Gundagon, Muller, all in that 18-21 bracket coming through. You now have some good players such as Werner, Kimmich, Goretzka, Sane, Gnabry in the 24—27 bracket, but there's not many standout names bar Havertz in the younger age group just now.

England are France especially are the opposite just now.

You don't get points or trophies for having the most domestic players.

Agreed but a lot of people seem to think Dortmund are this epicentre of German youth talent etc when they are not, their Amateur team is rarely in the running to go up. Remember going there in 2007 and their fans saying how much they disliked Chelsea due to their money and buying foreigners.

Tell you one I was surprised to see fail at Dortmund - Weigl from 1860 Munich, started well but just went backwards - now at Benfica.

Be interesting to see how many of the Bayern II squad who won 3 Liga make it to the full squad. Bayern were lax on this front for a few seasons but may well have it going well again now. Jamal Musiala one you hear little of, funny with being English.

A midfielder for a shite club will generally score a lot less than a striker at a club with the chances Alfredo gets. The English tax will ensure the fee way higher too.

Or he thinks he might play at Dortmund? Sancho got England caps as a teenager.

People comparing a 17year old English midfielder, playing in the championships, goal return with a 24 year old columbians in the SPFL.
And thinking that should be a measure of the valuation. o_O:eek:
