Juventus fans wont accept the title if the season is cancelled

If you win a golf tournament after 54 holes it’s not in the record books as a win even though you get the trophy and the cheque.
Happened to Adam Scott recently.
He won a tournament in the states recently and put the record straight.
He had been awarded the same tournament many years earlier but it basically had an asterisk beside his name as it wasn’t completed.
Not always. The winner is the leader when the organisers decide to halt play. No asterisk next to Sergio's win in 2018 at Valderama.
I'd want us to be given the title if the positions were reversed and no way to complete the season.
It is a nightmare for organisers in every league though and without league winners we can't go ahead in Europe next season either.

Might need closed door games late summer to sort things out but that isn't ideal either.

I'm sure the league leaders in Scotland will follow suit with such a sporting gesture, sporing integrity is very important for them.
I am sure the mentally challengeds will be drafting a letter up at the moment to UEFA stating that alongside the SPFL title they will be happy to accept titles from any other country where it has either been called null and void or the clubs refused to accept the tainted title.

What will happen in the unlikely event of our football administrators saying that the title will not be awarded is that a certain team will come out before the official announcement is made and they will say it would be unsportsmanlike like to accept the title.

Yes - but the fear is that Liverpool will be declared Champions and no EPL club will object.
SPFL would then use this as a precedent to give them the title even though there is no comparison
between the two situations!
Exactly. Liverpool would almost certainly win the EPL without picking up another point. That lot still have plenty of work to do, including a double header against us. Rangers need to make it clear to the authorities up here, that we will fight tooth and nail any attempt to simply declare them winners of a competition they have far from won!

Your not insinuating that they would be given a heads up to the claim the moral high ground would you surely not.

That's 6 folk who have replied and didn't pick that up. I wonder if they read the article? :D
I'm guessing that the ill-judged attempt to call Ibrox Ibrox is at the root of this.

Juventus are known as Ibrox. Maybe on here, Old Lady auto-corrects to Ibrox.

(That's exactly what just happened!)

Yip, they will probably gladly accept the Europa League trophy too if it isn't won on the pitch!

if celtic accept the title can we declare ourselves vice winners? of course not

Why are people still not getting that football cannot be played behind closed doors?

Stay 2 metres away from anyone who is not from your household.

How do you play a game of football with players not allowed to tackle?

Juventus fans have started a campaign for the current Serie A leaders to turn down the 2019-20 title if the season remains unfinished due to the shut down of sport during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in Europe. Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates have displayed their solidarity by accepting pay cuts during the Covid-19 crisis and the feeling among fans of Ibrox is that refusing the Scudetto is the only correct course of action if it proves impossible to complete the current campaign.

It would be wonderful if we are awarded the title based on the current standings. And it would be even better if we said; no thanks," read one message on social media and Andrea Agnelli, the club's president, agreed with the sentiment, adding a "like" to the post.

There are still a number of options on the table to see out the 2019-20 season in Italy but after all sporting events were cancelled for the whole of April in response to the coronavirus crisis, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that the campaign will end normally. As it stands, Juventus lead Serie A by a single point from Lazio with Inter nine points adrift in third but with a game in hand over the top two.

One of the solutions put forward is the most obvious and easiest to achieve: simply halting the season now. But that is a situation that the vast majority of fans don't want including Juventus supporters, who feel that being gifted the title with 12 games to play would not be the right thing to do. The last comparable situation took place in 1944, when Spezia won the Campionato Alta Italia. Although not recognized as a Scudetto victory, the southern Italian side were awarded an honorary title in 2002.

Agnelli has been a vocal supporter of prioritising national leagues over continental concerns and has expressed his opinion to UEFA that domestic competitions should be finished before any others. And although he has made no official announcement regarding the Scudetto, it appears that Agnelli shares the sentiment of fans that it should be left vacant this year if all games are not completed.
It will never catch on :))

Obviously it would be once the close proximity advice has been lifted.

So not behind closed doors then?
No, there would initially still be restrictions on large crowds because of the greater potential to infect more people but the players could be allowed to play.
The scientists have been speaking about how the country will gradually return from the current lock down phase.

They won't have been talking about getting football played.

Absolutely. How can we ask players and staff to put themselves at risk to play games behind closed doors? No one seems to get this just yet. We have no vaccine. Therefore the virus will still be around for months if not years even after we start to vaccinate and or test the population to see who has had it.

It's bonkers, people seem to think that any relaxing of social distancing will be a green light for football to resume.

Organised sports are going to be well down on the list of what will be allowed.

Of course they wouldn't be talking about football right now. They are discussing how best to implement the relaxing of restrictions when conditions allow and once they release this information the football authorities will be able to find out if football can return. Make no mistake about it, the players will be allowed to play before full crowds are permitted so this might be the only way that seasons could be finished although not one I would like to happen myself.

Football behind closed doors just isn't happening mate.
Our next game is the filth at Ibrox.
Do you think that's getting played without Sky showing it?

No TV broadcast, you're inviting fans to congregate at the stadium, show it on TV and people are gathering to watch it.

It's a lose/lose situation.

Aside from that, the players union have explicitly stated that behind closed doors games won't be played on their watch.
They're not going to tell footballers they are fine to return to work as normal until they are sure it's safe to do so.

I agree, don't want closed door games either, especially the Ibrox game against Celtic where our fans could make the difference and set us on track to try and catch them.
No easy way out of this before the season begins after the summer.
