Does anybody know what the deal is with him at the moment? Is he training? Not much point in saying we should get rid because nobody will want a player who isn’t fit if that’s the case.

Waste of time tbh

No one is coming in for him and doubt we will see him for a long time yet

If we don't make CL we should sell Sakala and bring in another striker

I think Kemar Roofe brings something different to the team when he plays. Hes a cracking wee player.

But I think the whole fitness thing in the lead up to Seville has pissed Gio off. We needed a striker in that game and you seen when he cam on what he could have brought with that chance he set up for Kent.

We needed him most that night and it still breaks my heart.

I’d get him out the door if we can. He’s always injured and from what I’ve read in here down south the majority of the time.

Last month he was in Liverpool working with a specialist physio as directed by the club after his calf went again in early pre seasons

I like Roofe and think he’s a cracking player when he plays but the only thing is that he seems to get a run of two maybe three games then he’s out injured for the next three games and that just repeats itself through the season.

Roofe is a yard of pace short of being a terrific goalscoring wide player, and lacks the hold up ability to be a striker at European level for us.

He'll be a good option for goals from the bench, or from the start against some of the poorer teams in the league, but Colak is already looking like an improvement on him to be honest.

His times up, if a deal can be done between the club and the player it should be.

Get him off the books.

I love what he brings when he's fit and on form, but these constant injuries have soured people's opinion on him and most likely the management team.

Does anyone think he does take the piss with certain injuries?
I'm not saying he is but players have done it and continue to do it.

Maybe he’s got Daniel Sturridge Syndrome. A similar affliction to Andy Webster syndrome.

Could well be mate.
I mind kemar was injured over the whole Christmas period, but he was very active on his social medias, out and about and enjoying time with his family over Christmas, people weren't too happy.

I don't know rightly what my the opinion should be on it, but we all want what's best for rangers and if a player isnt able to perform for the team while picking up big wages and can't be relied on by the manager then it's not a great situation.

I don’t think that was very fair mind you. Carrying an injury doesn’t mean he can’t go about his life. Disappearing down south a lot probably isn’t a good look though in terms how he’s perceived by fans.

All I know if he’s completely unreliable and not worth his wage based on that alone.

I agree and that puts the club in a predicament, a player on big wages, unlikely to be able to recoup a decent amount back for the fee paid and unable to get another player in that's more reliable.

That’s the other issue, the transfer fee was a pretty considerable one and we’ve got next to no chance of even coming close to recouping that on account of his injury record.

In general he has a very good background with his fitness. When he is first choice at a club he normally plays 20/25+ games minimum.

So it's a case of him spitting out the dummy?
I don't know.
He doesn't have a god given right to start
Footballers know there's always competition and that's what motivates them to do well in theory..

Honestly mate I think the club is just really quite relaxed with that kind of stuff and naturally a player will take advantage of that, they aren't robots and deserve a little travelling/relaxation. It's no as if he's fucking off to Australia for 2 weeks during the season. If you remember there was similar stories under Gerrard which had peoples panties in a twist on here saying he ran away from the club without their permission and shit :)) I think it was Grezda?

Probably not building a good case since he was a waster... But... :))

I have no idea what point you're trying to make?

All I'm saying is he is a player we can rely on fitness wise to play in a higher number of games over the season than Roofe?

2nd season in a row our 1st and 2nd choice strikers haven't been available (fully fit/available for selection) for the (financially) most important part of the season. Has cost us big style, Morelos, it really hasn't been his fault, but Roofe because of his crazy challenge against Prague and this season his injury propensity. It is a hard ask for any club to do what we are striving to do anyway, but doubly harder without these players. Thankfully Colak seems to be settling in well, but that in itself may not be enough against very good opposition.

Right now I think that building on our Europa run, sales of Bassey, Patterson and Aribo, and our seemingly healthier financial outlook overall, Gio is trying to transition our team to a different level from where we've been operating. Although the targets are the same - get to the CL, decent run in Europa at least, win the league - I think Gio and the management are raising the bar in terms of the standards players have to meet to feature in our squad.

Colak and Tillman already look like clear upgrades. Yilmaz seems to have huge potential. Matondo has shown promise. Sands is a young guy who I think is going to grow in our squad. I think guys like Arfield and Davis have been kept around precisely because they are pros who can cope with rising expectations.

And sadly I think the flip side of that is that a few players who were "good enough" to persevere with last season are at risk of being left behind. This applies to the likes of Sakala, in the medium term term we might see Barisic and Wright phased out, maybe Kamara finds himself more likely to be sold. But I think it particularly applies to injury plagued guys like Roofe and Helander, not through lack of ability but because a team that aspires to playing in the Champions' League can't afford to wait anxiously for updates from the treatment room. Roofe's strike rate for us has been very good when he's fit, but "effective when fit" just doesn't cut it if we're going to get where we need to be.
