Rangers set to swoop for Leeds star Kemar Roofe IF they sell Alfredo Morelos
RANGERS look set to make a £5million swoop for Leeds striker Kemar Roofe if they cash in on Alfredo Morelos.

SunSport can reveal Steven Gerrard has pinpointed the Elland Road hitman as his top target to replace El Buffalo.

Kemar Roofe in action for Leeds United

Colombian Morelos is edging towards the Ibrox exit, with Gers hoping to rake in around £10m from one of a number of clubs interested in last season’s 30-goal striker.

Ibrox director of football Mark Allen has been told to identify strikers who could fill Morelos’ boots.
And Roofe, 26, has shot to the top of the list. He was top scorer for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side last season, with 14 Championship goals.

Leeds have been eager to secure the hitman on a new long-term deal.

But Roofe — born in England yet eligible to play for Jamaica — has just 12 months to run on his current contract and hasn’t agreed new terms yet.

Leeds now fear seeing him walk out the door for free next summer and are understood to have slapped a £5m price tag on the attacker.

It’s a hefty fee for Gers who would also have to at least match the £10,000-a-week wages Roofe is currently on.

That’s why any deal would almost certainly depend on whether Rangers cashed in on Morelos because they wouldn’t be able to afford him otherwise.

Morelos has a number of clubs interested in signing him this summer, despite his controversial disciplinary record.

And Light Blues legend Mark Hateley admits he fears Gers are going to lose their main man.
He said: “He’ll score goals for whatever club he’s at. He’s in demand and there’s a long way to go until the window closes.

“Everyone has a number. That’s the way of football these days. With nearly two months to go before the window closes, a lot can happen both ways.”

I believe we had a chance with the guy a few years ago but he's out of our range now for sure. If he does leave Leeds he'll go to a prem team I'd imagine

Last year of his contract, could be a possibility. Cash in £16 million+ for Morelos get him and spent elsewhere in the squad. Morelos wants to leave for England no matter if you like it or not.

What a fucking awful article. Firstly it claims we will get 10mill for a player our club valued at double that. %^*& off. Then the journo claims we couldn’t afford a 5mill fee, despite spending 8mill on fees last season and the club being on a better financial footing. IF SG wanted a player for 5mill, I’m sure he’d get the funds. File this article under bullshit
