Killie announce move to higher spec synthetic

Why don't they upgrade to a grass pitch.

Because they're cheapskate, cheating cunts who don't give a shit about player safety or the quality of the match people pay to see.

They shouldn't have a choice in the matter.

They may not have any standards or sense of decency but the SFA, the Players Union, etc should and must start insisting these things are outlawed.

Rangers should be taking a lead on this too.

There's no place for these surfaces in top flight professional football.

Ajax and Barcelona!? Away and fucking gies peace ya absolute clowns.

Barca have eight regular sized pitches at their training ground, only three of them are of this plastic.
They are likely to be useful under certain conditions and not under other conditions, hence why they have five grass pitches.

(Must add: I haven't a fkn clue what the difference is).

If junior teams can maintain a good grass surface then there's no excuse for Premiership teams not to.

If a professional team in the top flight of Scottish football can’t afford the upkeep of a grass pitch and have to rely on having a synthetic one and rent it out to boost their revenues, then they shouldn’t really be a professional football club.

It’s a shambles that Scottish Football allows this to happen. Cut your cloth accordingly and have a grass pitch. It’s a total fucking disgrace
I’m no fan of Murderwell but at least they have shown how a pitch can be used properly.

Tired tonight , so read this "Kilmarnock FC is delighted to announce a FieldTurf " as "Fluffturf"

Any football club using a plastic pitch in 2019 should be barred from the top tier.

The pitches at most football clubs in the UK have change dramatically from the one blade of grass mudbaths of the 70's/80's.

There is no reason for any professional club not to have one.

Farcical.

Top flight football should be played on grass. Junior teams in Ayrshire maintain decent grass pitches FFS.

Although its not grass, surely to %^*& this new surface will be better than what they currently have? Their current surface is an absolute joke, same as Livi's.

If they watered it a bit before we played them
It would actually be ok. They leave it dry as %^*& so we can’t play football

Should be outlawed in the top flight. Remember the 10,000 seat rule for being in the SPL, I take it that's no longer a thing.

Plastic pitches look terrible on TV .makes the SPL look even more tinpot than it is already .is it any wonder Scottish football is seen as a joke when shit like this is seen as ok

You can see why they want to have a plastic pitch. Plastic pitches (and three quarter built stadiums) just show Scottish Football up to the world though.

Kilmarnock FC is delighted to announce a FieldTurf Core playing surface will be installed at Rugby Park in time for the 2019/20 season.

This high-quality synthetic turf is the most advanced on the market and is already used by Champions League semi-finalists FC Barcelona and Ajax at their training centres as well as at Everton’s Finch Farm complex.

We are the first club in Scotland to use this technology on their first team pitch with advantages including optimum ball roll, reduced pellet spray, increased surface stability and improved general aesthetics.

As well as the new turf system, Rugby Park stadium staff will benefit from FieldTurf’s Genius pitch monitoring system, which will maximise the longevity and safety of the surface.

Director Billy Bowie said: "The season may just have finished but work has already started on the new surface and we can't wait for it to be christened when the team returns to action in the Europa League in July."

Paul Fraser, Regional Business Director from Tarkett Sports, added: “We are delighted to be working with Kilmarnock FC to deliver one of the most high-tech synthetic turf stadia in the world. We are providing the latest synthetic turf and infill technology to ensure the players have the most advanced playing surface available.

“The FieldTurf Core system meets and exceeds the most stringent FIFA certifications and sets a new standard for elite synthetic turf in Scotland and beyond. In addition, the FieldTurf Genius pitch monitoring system will allow for expert care and maintenance of the playing surface over the lifetime of the field.”
In mid-June, supporters will be able to buy parts of the current pitch for £5 per square metre with all proceeds going to the Kilmarnock Community Sports Trust (KCST). The Killie Trust will be assisting the club with this process and further information including the start of sales will be released in due course.

The club would also like to thank Willie Hamilton and the team at Hamilton Tarmac for all their help with this project.
Reduced pellet spray ffs less plastic you mean, still all the bears that buy away tickets will be happy to hear they funded it.

It's not the cost of the pitch, it's the upkeep and the revenue that can be achieved with a plastic pitch.

True, but still think it should be compulsory for teams in the top division to have.

Even on tv it looks ridiculous - more akin to a game of 5s than a professional football match.

Makes no difference when the new National team Coach instructed them to launch it 60 yards straight from kick off. The state of Scottish football is a disgrace, plastic pitches (which are an abomination and invented for Siberian Russian teams) are too far up the conversation list in the bigger picture of our game

Artificial grass is brutal. It killed my amateur career and left my knee in bits. The shock absoption is much lower that natural grass and over time the rubber pellets compress and harden and worsen the absorption even more. They should be nowhere near topflight football.
