Killie announce move to higher spec synthetic

That's fine, but if they refuse to water it properly like they do with the current one then it's still going to be a dreadful surface

So while other clubs make time, effort and finance to keep their pitches true, these tramps are allowed to be lazy cheapskates and force players to play on their compromised plastic surfaces?.

It's all about standards as Stevie G says, sadly they're very low in this tinpot league.

They should be made to reduce the ticket price.
They stubbornly refuse to provide a top class surface appropriate to the game of football and it is a disgrace that this is allowed in today's modern game at this level.
The SFA are a disgrace for tolerating this blatant cheating of the paying customer.

Kilmarnock FC is delighted to announce a FieldTurf Core playing surface will be installed at Rugby Park in time for the 2019/20 season.

This high-quality synthetic turf is the most advanced on the market and is already used by Champions League semi-finalists FC Barcelona and Ajax at their training centres as well as at Everton’s Finch Farm complex.

We are the first club in Scotland to use this technology on their first team pitch with advantages including optimum ball roll, reduced pellet spray, increased surface stability and improved general aesthetics.

As well as the new turf system, Rugby Park stadium staff will benefit from FieldTurf’s Genius pitch monitoring system, which will maximise the longevity and safety of the surface.

Director Billy Bowie said: "The season may just have finished but work has already started on the new surface and we can't wait for it to be christened when the team returns to action in the Europa League in July."

Paul Fraser, Regional Business Director from Tarkett Sports, added: “We are delighted to be working with Kilmarnock FC to deliver one of the most high-tech synthetic turf stadia in the world. We are providing the latest synthetic turf and infill technology to ensure the players have the most advanced playing surface available.

“The FieldTurf Core system meets and exceeds the most stringent FIFA certifications and sets a new standard for elite synthetic turf in Scotland and beyond. In addition, the FieldTurf Genius pitch monitoring system will allow for expert care and maintenance of the playing surface over the lifetime of the field.”
In mid-June, supporters will be able to buy parts of the current pitch for £5 per square metre with all proceeds going to the Kilmarnock Community Sports Trust (KCST). The Killie Trust will be assisting the club with this process and further information including the start of sales will be released in due course.

The club would also like to thank Willie Hamilton and the team at Hamilton Tarmac for all their help with this project.

Nice of this cheating b*stard to take a break from ruining amateur football in Ayrshire. Be well suited to that mob.

It’s only 50k for a decent grass surface.

Even if it means making one less signing a year, all teams in the top division should be forced to have a grass pitch for the sake of player safety.

Not to mention the standard of football you can play on astro would be comical if it wasn’t so dangerous.

Why change it? They told us the current one was a perfect playing surface. Not good enough, get rid

Just what they need for relegation next season

Next up Livingston have invested £40 a week to hold their home games next season to the Pitts in Townhead.

It's not the cost of the pitch, it's the upkeep and the revenue that can be achieved with a plastic pitch.

Absolute joke man. You see the way the ball moves and bounces on that pitch and it is so unnatural and unpredictable.

If it was sodden or frozen, the ref would take a ball onto it, drop it, and if the bounce is unnatural and unpredictable, the pitch is deemed dangerous and the game is called off. What's the fucking difference??

We have a plastic pitch at the hummell training centre but id be suprised if the 1st team ever use it, probably the same wae barca wouldnt let any of the top stars near it before a big game, they are proven to cause injury full stop.

The reason they are changing it is Clarke wants it installed at Hampden . Such a shame to as the old rugby park grass pitch year in year out was one of the best in the country. Played on it a few times always played well

Another crap plastic pitch. They have the cheek to say Ajax and Barca use it as if they have it as their main playing surface at the stadiums when it’s actually for their training grounds.
