Lawrence Shankland interesting Rangers & Sunderland

Get him for nothing in the summer,or cheap transfer in next window.
Has anybody really seen him out with wee bits on TV

Big Jeff knows.

Possibly exactly what we need to put away the crap teams. Boyd won us leagues. We didn't play him in the big games but without his tap ins we wouldnt have won the league. What else can the boy do he can only play the teams he is up against and he has scored an insane amount for half a season.

I say we buy him and we send Andy Dallas on loan

Is he really out of contract in the summer? The Ayr chairman said today that it will take a large bid to take him in January.

I don't really care if people on here don't rate him, he is a no risk signing.

Scoring for fun, confident, has experience of Scottish football in general and is Rangers daft. He'd cost peanuts/be free at the end of the season.

Just a take a punt on him Rangers. We can get him for a decent fee especially if we loan him back to Ayr for end of season. Also to declaim the Nicky Clark comparison, Nicky was a one season wonder this boy has been scoring regularly for the past two seasons.

No need to get uppity at the mention of Nicky Clark.

Much the same as the argument about English League One, as Greg Docherty rips it up again.

Sign the boy, but it must be regarded as a no risk punt with no real expectation of success. There should be other players already operating at the level required signed.

Problem is that this season, we had Alfredo in the side almost non-stop. The rest of the lads had cameo appearances at best ... hence they hardly had the chance to get into competitive form or string some games together to get to competitive match sharpness. We'd have Shankland sitting alongside Lafferty on the bench and unless he'd hit the ground running as a sub every now and then, he'll get slaughtered like the rest ... with hardly anything he could do about it.

I'd sign him, get Hardie back in the summer too, and use them and Lafferty every now and then at home in a 3-5-2 line-up ... as we have seen that 4-3-3 (while modern and whatnot) is not the answer to the brickwall teams, unless you have some good creative players and midfielders who run into spaces a la Arfield and Holt.

How many did Nicky Clark score
What’s Nicky Clark got to do with shankland mate ? It’s a constant comparison between the two on here and I don’t know why. The boy knows where the net is and with us with the service he will get could be a sensation but with everything it’s a gamble and at very little £ it’s worth it IMO mate

Statistics don't necessarily tell the whole story, but in League One last season Shankland averaged almost one goal per game - 26 in 30. In the division above this season, and one assumes at a higher standard, he is averaging just over a goal a game - 16 in 15 games before today (he's got another 2 today.) The bald figures would suggest that he's an improving player.

Can’t argue with those stats
