Levein: Walker let down by Rangers

Should have taken £500k for him and sorted it out in July /early Aug.

Hearts are the losers here.

Many strands contributing to Levein trying to position things as not his club's fault:
  • Hearts overvalued the player
  • We clearly refused to pay the valuation
  • Hearts (like many others) were surprised they couldn't gouge us and expected us to give in
  • Hearts (like many others) have some weird form of fear in being seen to not try to screw us as hard as they can. This is because their fans have lost all sense of perspective on us as a club and Hearts are scared of being seen as helping the "bogeyman" in any way shape or form.
  • Levein knows they have actually harmed their own club financially as Walker will go for less money now and he wants to push the blame elsewhere
 
Hearts could of flog the lad for 1/2 million or so and everyone would have been happy. Now they have an unhappy player who will be sold for buttons in January or go for nothing next summer.

Yeh, blame Rangers.
 
I would love someone to ask Levein if he let Hearts down all those years ago at Dens Park.

Hearts were hit with a virus to key players leading up to the game, Levein stayed in South Queensferry at the time and the team bus used to pick him up on route to games up North.

Doddy spoke to him during the week telling him the team needed him to play, the bus stopped and Levein refused to play.

Gary McKay a real Hearts legend hates him to this day because of his actions.

Did you let your team down Avril?

It's not, but that most certainly doesn't mean we let him down. Unless we somehow made a promise to him that we would sign him then we haven't let anyone down, we simply tried to get the best deal for our club, just like Hearts tried to do for their club.
 
lets try & compare Gary Mackay-Stevens especially when at united , he entered the last 6 months of his contract & was sold For £250,000 at that time he was a highly sought player who had been capped by Scotland Jamie Walker wasn't highly sought or capped at international level , whatever Rangers offered i'd say it was in line with Mackay-Steven's value the 6 months before he signed for celtc and in January Rangers if they so wish should offer no more that what celtc paid to Dun Utd .................

as scottish media often said about Mackay-Steven's move " its a move he could hardly turn down "
 
They were asking for an un-realistic price for an SPL player in the last year of his contract, end of.

Rangers are not to blame, they are just angry because they are going to lose him for peanuts compared to what they could of got, simples.
 
Wasnt he recently caught out saying Walker had handed in a transfer request and the player denied it? i'd say walker will see Avril for what she is.
 
Hearts let the boy down, not us. We will always be held to ransom by Scottish teams due to the hatred of our club. I wouldn't give them another penny.
 
This "report' is so transparently inaccurate I think it simply confirms we dealt with the situation correctly.
 
Levein being a tool as he always has been,Walker was let down by Hearts and like others in this country their continual dislike of everything Rangers.
 
There was a deal to be done but greed drove Hearts not sell.

It's backfired. They now have an unhappy player on the books who's value is nowhere near what is was up to 31 August.

And yes, Levein is an utter tool.
 
Avril is a halfwit best ignored,

The should have taken the 500,000 and stopped moving the goalposts.

Hopefully they are feeling the heat from their bank when the get very little January or nothing for him come the summer.
 
We were right to tell Hearts to piss off with their ridiculous valuation of him. He's a decent player, no more and nowhere near £1m. If we still want him, we'll get him for nothing in 4 months. Hearts loss, not ours.
 
Leveins at it. He's full of pish trying his best to stop walker signing a pre-contract. Complete fud of a man.
 
Walker and Hearts form since the turn of the year has been pretty rotten in all honesty.

He need to improve before January for us to go back in for him.
 
Nothing changes with Levein. It's the big bad Rangers' fault.

Just hope now we do actually get Walker once his contract runs out and get it up them :D
 
He says he didnt want to talk about it,then talks about it .That sums up Levein
 
Quite happy the way we have handled this.

We made an offer...they tried to screw us and we refused to buckle.This is the way we should treat all these wee clubs who think they can rip us off.

If Avril has a problem he need look no further than his director of football.

we will pay what we have to pay if we want Walker only difference is instead of Hearts getting £500,000 in their pocket it'll be going in Walkers pocket
