A draw would be one our best European results ever given how decimated our starting 11 is . Injuries happen but the band on Roofe and Kamara are a disgrace .
Very good :D :D :D

Roofe likely wouldn’t have started anyway. Kamara and Morelos are a loss but decimated? That’s hilarious

Some people seem to be forgetting we will be going into the game minus 5 or 6 certain starters .
Not that bad, surely?

”Certain starters” missing =
Jack (but he’s been missing for months)
Kamara (but if Jack was fit, would Davis and Kamara both be “certain starters”?)
Morelos
Roofe, arguably - or Hagi, but not both.

So I’d say 3 missing, no more than 4. Still a big handicap, but not 5/6.

My concern is the defence and the fitness/sharpness of Helander & Borna. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bassey starts.

Midfield and upfront, we’ll cause them problems. Helsinki did and they have nowhere near the quality.

Really hard tonight, if we can pull off a draw and get Alfie back for next week at Ibrox it would be a huge result.

this team tonight will be faster, fitter and stronger. A potential exists for them to over run us. Suspect this will look a lot like the Prague game a few months back.

the key is not losing by more than 1 goal if it goes against us, we do not want to be chasing a 2 goal deficit. We could still overcome it but a draw would be a brilliant result with the players missing tonight And us not being up to speed.
Faster, fitter AND stronger?

Playing in Sweden will always be a challenge, especially given they are in the middle of their season.

Looking back at their results over the years they have beaten a range of very good teams in Malmö over the years; Dynamo Kiev, Besiktas, Shaktar, Celtic, RB Salzburg (twice), Olympiacos, Dinamo Zagreb.

Like us, they seem to be specialists in causing upsets at home in Europe. So I think the posters saying a draw would be a good result are probably right.

I think we’ll start strong as always, put some pressure on them early doors. Confident we’ll get at least one goal 1st half, but no clue what chance they may have to equalise. If they do, it might end up being a flat second half, but I’m confident that if we get one early doors we’ll bury them. 3-0 the Famous.

Faster, fitter AND stronger?
Sure their is a song in that;-) At this specific moment in time yes.

In a few weeks time once we're all up to speed and full strength I wouldn't even bat an eyelid towards this game.

Malmo from what I've seen look powerful and very fit. They also have pace and can be aggressive. Suspect they will come out flying at us from kickoff. We do have some special players they don't have, Kent if on form could completely rip them to shreds tonight.

Aribo is slightly behind in fitness and looks to be carrying a bit of bulk, but he could also be massive.

Davis can make the game also for us and be the key. It will be tough but he needs to resist recycling the ball backwards as much tonight and allow pressure to build.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Hagi in midfield, with Wright, Sakala and Kent up front. Malmo apparently play a high line, can see us targeting that with balls over the top.

Shagger
Tav
Goldson
Helander
Barisic
Davis
Lundstrum
Hagi
Wright
Sakala
Kent

I don't think there's any chance of seeing Hagi in midfield tonight mate.

One of our main strengths away from home in Europe is how defensively disciplined and possession retaining we are.

Davis, Lundstram and probably Arfield give us that.

Looks like Jay Hogarth and Alex Lowry travelled with the team. Won’t be involved obviously, but interesting to see them nonetheless.

What’s the feeling over there mate, confident or a bit of worry?.
Malmö is always confident. That's what paved way for our success with 2 straight CL-group stages, knocking out RB Salzburg twice (%^*& red bull and modern football) also knocking out Celtic and Sparta Praha. We did this with a starting-11 value of about 15M euros.

So yeah, I would say we are confident but also we all know you have a better team than us on all positions probably, which you should have with the economy you have, with all due respect.

Whats interesting for us is that this year we finally took that "leap" from other clubs in Sweden with all the price money from last years in europe as we have slowly but safe placed our money on future investments such as buying our stadium and paying of the loans. 4 group stages since 2015 is pretty impressive for a club with our budget, VERY impressive to be correct. We won the group last time ahead of FC Copenhagen and Dinamo Kyiv.
What makes us so confident is the fact that we lost 0(!) home games in Europe qual. stages since we met you guys back in 2011.

A draw would be a pretty good result but I think we will be pretty comfortable over the two legs. Teams who aren’t strong defensively struggle against us and they look very vulnerable.

Nice one.

2-0 Rangers ;)

A good away win and a clean sheet please Rangers.
Is the correct answer

Yesterday's thinking I think bud. Gerrard has given this Rangers team a confidence to genuinely go for the win regardless and it's payed off for us big time.

What makes us so confident is the fact that we only lost 1(!) home game in Europe since we met you guys back in 2011. And that game was a 1-3 loss to Chelsea in last of 16 round 2019. Since 2011 we have had a lot of home games in Europe.
A real Malmö fan would probably remember the 3-1 loss to Granada in the Europa League playoff last year. Would probably remember the last 32 loss to Wolfsburg in 2020 too. There are lots of others. Sounds like you are looking at Soccerway and only seeing Champions League but even in the Champions League there have been loads of losses at home since 2011.

Alo this is a big myth in Europe that we concede a lot of goals. We had our starting keeper on injury for 7 months and played our reserve, a young player from the club that sadly had very bad communication to our defenders and you never heard him guiding the team on the pitch. We now have our starting keeper back (He was also injured last timee we met) since his comeback we have 11-0 in the last 4 games in the leauge. We are not leaking anymore.

Well true that. You can test me any way you want. Im basically on every game. I remember Jelavic was very good last time we met you guys.
The fact remains, we are VERY strong at our home ground. Big reason for this is the atmosphere, its a very compact stadium with great aucustic(?) design. sadly restrictions limits us to only being 5.500.

McGregor
Tavernier Goldson Helander Barisic
Lundstram Davis
Wright Arfield Kent
Sakala

Can see Arfield starting if Hagi is unfit, Aribo looked a yard of the pace on Saturday to me.

Well of course we will going for the win, but in early season qualifiers with lots of first team players missing I still think Gerrard will be happy to go back to Glasgow with a draw.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Gerrard goes for a system akin to the one we used in the 4-1 game vs Celtic. Itten & Sakala are said to both play better with partners, so as I say it may be something Gerrard uses to get the best out of the pair.

Nervously excited for tonight! First game back in the CL in 10 years vs a team we really should be beating but you absolutely can’t write them off, especially as they are mid way through their season.

Does anyone know if there are there any pubs in Glasgow with big seating areas for watching the game?

It might be hard to get in most places I imagine, need somewhere people are almost guaranteed to get in.

Are you actually Swedish mate? Any links to Scotland/Rangers or just joined the site for this match?

Has anyone registered for the premier sports package (not with sky or virgin just on its own) lately and is it possible to cast it to your TV? I don't want to end up paying £15 for the month only to end up watching it on my mobile/spending the first 20 minutes messing about trying to get it up!

(I am assuming a VPN won't work with RTV+chromecast! But if I'm wrong please let me know... Not used RTV on my own as I watched with family all last season so figuring it all out now )

You'll be leaking from all holes tonight buddy, you're getting pumped rotten.
