Man utd looking to pay £30m for 16 yr old

He’s 16 and Birmingham’s best player.

Their argument will be that he’ll be worth £80m in 3 years.

Doubt it will be £30 million straight to the bank account. Most likely will have “KPI’s” to reach the amount being quoted. media Just doing what the media does.

This is absolutely crazy for any 16yr old.
18yr old maybe, but at 16 you've no idea of how a player is starting to mature.

I'm certain the boys an absolute standout at the moment in the 16's and has great potential but their current side is gash compared to what you would expect from Man Utd so I'd have thought the here and now would be of greater concern

So, they have two options for their midfield and they have already made their mind up.

They don't want to sign Bruno Fernandes, a proven Portuguese international midfielder who drives Sporting Lisbon forward single-handedly and has scored 39 goals in 82 games from midfield, because he's "not significantly better than what they already have".

However, they do want to sign a 16 year old midfielder from a lower half Championship side for £30m because he has "potential". When they are struggling to keep hold of 5th place in the League.

Boggles the mind.

This is where the governing bodies need to step in and cap this absurd amount of money for a child. This is agents at play with these sorts of deals.

That’s mental. And united wonder why they are in the state they are in. Puts a load of pressure on the boy as well. Crazy

Genuine question; when was the last time Man United signed 2 outfield players from the Championship in the same season?

That is some lowering of the standards Ferguson set.

and this is why football down there will eventually go bust,

Thats just a ludicrous amount of money to pay for a 16 year old

Could go 2 ways. The boy might see this as an excellent opportunity and become brilliant or he will see himself as a £30 million pound player and let it go to his head

Really think they would be better spending that money on someone who can step straight into the team and help them. They can stockpile potential but they are in danger of not making Europe and losing millions in reveneue as a result.
And by god they need it

That's an obscene amount of money to pay for potential. Good luck to him with his career but not sure if Manure is the right club.

Has Leon King signed a contract yet?
Not sure mate but he was the '19th' member of the squad Vs Stranraer. Training, warm up, in the dressing room/bench with the first team. So all sounds promising, seeing Patterson and Kai play will be huge for the whole Academy boys seeing they do have a chance

Clubs must see man utd coming and quadruple the prices for players. That big dud harry macguire being the biggest fraud in football so far. £80 f*ckin million!?!?!

I think the strategy of getting potential in and developing it is the correct move for them, rather than waiting until players are already worth £80 million then signing them. However at that age it is always a gamble, no matter their potential. Not to mention there is no solid structure in place for Utd from top to bottom.

Football will eventually kill itself off financially. None more so than in England - it's not just the big clubs spending mad money like it is elsewhere in Europe. It's all of them due to the absolutely stupid amounts of cash being pumped into it - which simply cannot be sustainable.

It'll either collapse completely down there or it'll just end up the most expensive boring thing on the planet.
