Mason greenwood charges dropped

I wonder if the accuser should go to jail mob will join us on this thread
If its proven to be a made up accusation (not saying thats the case in this example), then why not punish people that make things up to try and get sympathy/limelight/revenge/payoffs, because its ruins lives, and ruins careers.

Take for example a case when the accuser was recorded admitting they made it up, or even admitted to it openly in court, confessing....then yes they should be punished for the crimes of wasting police and court time at the very least. surely its already illegal to make false accusations?

It's called perverting the course of justice.

there was no verdict or not guilty charges were dropped

"We have a duty to keep cases under continuous review.

In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction."

Think the girl friend eventually refused to cooperate, possibly it was harder without her as a witness

She was very clear verbally that she didnt want to have sex in that recording, so the verdict IS surprising imho.

she didnt fight him off tooth and nail screaming, AND she decided to record it, so perhaps new evidence came out showing that she planned this all, to frame him who knows.

edit: i see above, its a case off all charges dropped (as opposed to an actual "not guilty") so its all to vague to even speculate tbf

Can we amend this thread?

He hasn't been found 'not guilty', the charges were dropped.

Having heard the audio recording like most others, that is a surprise.

Was it actually her that made the accusations? I can remember it being a bit of a shit show when it came out with her and (bizarrely) her Dad defending him. Might be wrong about this but, I think she was claiming the clip was hacked/stolen and that she never even made the complaint and that they had been 'working things out' or words to that effect.

Fwiw even if that is true I'm not even sure how that works from a legal stand point down there. I know in Scotland the Police and PF can decide to prosecute even if the 'victim' doesn't make a complaint. Not sure about England though.

IIRC the accuser had audio recordings of Greenwood. Seems strange he’s been found to have done no wrong doing.

The problem with this is that if you make a deal out of it, it can put off people coming forward if something is hard to prove.

There would have to be sufficient evidence that the person intended to defame (for want of a better word) the person they accused

Charges dropped, hasn’t been found to be innocent. Not clear if this has come from the police investigators or the girl but either way his career/image has been damaged

They’d have to take him back in.

Guess the same happened with Mendy?

Unless they come to a settlement.
Thats what i was thinking - hes, in the eyes of the law, innocent.

But they are going to get some stick if they keep him. As is any future club.

May be fair to say his career is done and a pay off in due course.

which makes you wonder, who are the key witnesses and what was the new evidence?

So there is new evidence and she’s dropped out that meant a conviction would be hard to get.

It will be interesting to see what the evidence is.

Stunned by that after hearing the audio. Just goes to show that there are flaws in the justice system. Hopefully the scumbag doesn't darken footballs doors again, but you know someone will sign him with the whole "Oh, he's not guilty of any crimes." pish.

Think Man Utd will pay Greenwood off. Bit of a PR nightmare for them considering the audio is still out there.

He's still a scumbag despite what the court judgement is.

Apparently the woman who made the recording is back together with him and wouldn't give evidence and that is why the chances of prosecution are low. On a personal level that is a crazy decision from her but on the wider level she has done untold damage to other victims because they will see this high profile case and think if they can't prosecute after all the evidence - the photos and tapes etc then what hope do they have.
