McCoist On The New Hate Crime Act

I don't know one person who wouldn't be in breach of this when we play them, Ally is spot on here.

Angry Ally McCoist has ripped into the new hate crime act which has come into effect in Scotland - claiming he and his fellow Rangers fans will all be at risk of breaching it against Celtic on Sunday.

The bill – passed by MSPs back in 2021 – was rubber-stamped on Monday and aims to combat abuse which "stirs up hatred" surrounding age, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity and disability. But a het-up McCoist – who praised the law's loudest detractor JK Rowling – is aghast over the introduction of it in Scotland and believes he and his fellow Ibrox supporters will be in the cross hairs of it when Philippe Clement's side host their biggest rivals this weekend.

Speaking to talkSPORT, McCoist said: "We've got a hate bill by the way, a hate bill has been passed in the country. And I can guarantee you, next Sunday at Ibrox, I, along with 48,000 will be committing a breach of that hate bill in the particular Rangers vs Celtic game we are all going to. It is madness."

And McCoist believes officers in blue will not be in favour of the law which has come into effect with fears from within it could damage public trust in the force.

The Rangers icon added: "That's exactly what the police think (impossible to enforce). The police spokesperson has come out and more and less said that. He obviously can't because he'll get himself in trouble. He has implied it, everybody with two brain cells in their head knows it's madness, crazy. There is nobody in our country who thinks that is a good idea, who I have spoken to."

He's right but the problem is that nonsensical laws like this and the OBaF act can be passed in Scotland by a majority vote of MSPs.

There is no HoL act as a 2nd check and maybe Westminster should have stepped in again like they did with GRR and DRS. Although that's possibly what the Nats were wanting to happen so they had more grievance to stir up.

I get his point but I think it could have been made more carefully and eloquently. What he is saying is that football has lots of rivalries, none more heated than the OF and this law is a blanket which could see people punished for things which are just part of a strong sporting rivalry

Most folk I know aren't wordsmith's with an extensive vocabulary who can Jesuit speak.

The latter language I'm learning for my online communications.

This has back fired on the SNP. People are fed up of the nanny state’s ’thought police’. I’m hoping it is the beginning of sense prevailing rather than reactive people pleasing government.

The simple solution to get rid of the Poison that is the SNP is for people to get out of their beds and go and VOTE!
Far too many just can't be bothered then moan all day long when the clowns come away with this rubbish.

The only problem being, they'll vote Labour who are as institutionally biased against us and full of yahoos as the natsis.

But hey, we're all working class.

It's Stick or Twist for Humza (and SFA poodles) - after we win - given there's
no Away fans, do they feed their insatiable hatred (sic) of Rangers, fine us
and face the ridicule south of the border (debatable whether anyone else
would even take notice), or just start a new "big bad Rangers" chapter?

McCoist is talking nonsense, the law you have just in acted is the same as in England & Wales also other nations. I see it was passed by all parties except conservatives although one did vote for.
For McCoist to say that we will all be breaking the law is just plain stupid and not true.

A lot of fans were breaking the law before anyway. I think what Ally said was unfortunate as it will only be Gers fans at the game.
And what better opportunity for the policy to be enforced.
Mark my words this will be enforced at the game, like it or not everyone will need to be wary of what they say as no doubt the cctv cameras will be red hot with the lip readers in attendance.

The hate crime law is all part of the agenda. I knew this was coming before anyone ever mentioned it. People need to open their eyes.

This is a naive in the extreme. Anyone who knows anything about this rancid little country and how it works nowadays, knows that things are generally done fairly in England and Wales.
I can guarantee that won't be the case in Scotland, and things will be hugely swayed to initially damage one community over any others.
They've been praying for this chance for years, and trust me, they won't pass up the opportunity now handed to them.
Rangers, and their Unionist support, will be their first target, and the loyal orders will be second having been in their crosshairs for years.

I hear you. Just that Super's words are an open goal for the gutter press as it sounds like he is guaranteeing there will be offensive behaviour on Sunday

If/when we win Polis Scotland will become completely hamstrung, as they will be inundated with complaints (all spurious), and with it it being humza useless's shiny new law, they will be bound to act on any and every complaint.
So don't look for a bobby if you get robbed, mugged, burgled, or worse!

I genuinely don't understand what he's talking about.
I assume he'll be on commentary duty so what is he going to do or say to attract the attention of Plod?
As you say an open goal for the enemy

One of the top lawyers in Scotland disagrees with you

As soon as more of them get done for it than us it will be dumped just like their football nonsense act
This is the problem, this will be a one way thing whereas they were getting into trouble for thinking only our songs would be illegal but they were getting done for their bile.

That's my defence sorted then, " but Canada Bear said it was ok".

Do you honestly think they won't try and make an example of us, report any utterance and take offence at everything? Our support will be reported of that I've no doubt.
