Memorial Garden Project for the five Markinch Boys who died in the Ibrox Disaster

A fundraiser has been launched to enhance the area around the Memorial Stone in Markinch and prohibit traffic from doing unsightly damage.

Markinch suffered its darkest of days on January 2, 1971 when Rangers fans Peter Easton, 13, 14-year-olds Bryan Todd, Ronald Paton and Mason Philip and 15-year-old Douglas Morrison, were among the 66 that were crushed to death as fans left the stadium following the end of a league game versus Celtic.

The five friends, four of which lived in the same street, failed to return home leaving a dark shadow over the community.

This fundraiser is to finance work enhance the area around the Memorial Stone in Markinch and prohibit traffic from doing unsightly damage.

Please give what you can.

Broke through the £5000 earlier today.
A couple of supporters clubs have donated and our bus company Prentice Westwood Coaches pledged a large sum.
A wee bump to promote a great cause.
