Midfield three of Arfield/Davis/Kamara/Jack

Why did the manager go back to this? It's been clear since last season that any combination of the above doesn't give us enough going forward. It's not even solid defensively.

We were playing two of the above and two of Roofe/Itten/Morelos/Defoe and were running rampant.

Thats the crux of our problem. Our midfiekd is not good enough. It has little to no goal threat and without jack its not good enough at the defensive side if things either. Its dissapointing that it has not been fixed yet.

Our midfield is generally average at best.

Our options are all very similar type players.

We have no dominant DM.

We have no creative box to box player except Aribo.

We are slow, predictable, and it's same thing over and over again.

To have our midfield recycling the ball and playing it sideways and being made to protect the full backs isn't what I expect from a Rangers midfield.

Three seasons now and nothing has changed likewise no significant investment in improving our midfield.

The management are to blame imo.

Need to get some quality in the midfield.
badly lacking, other than Davis- and he doesn’t have the legs for 2 full 90 minutes in the same week any longer.

That centre midfielder the sheep have just signed would have been perfect for todays game. Big, strong and powerful. Ideal for playing away from home against the thugs. The guy thats playing out his skin.

Whats his name again?

The injuries to Aribo, Jack and Roofe somewhat forced the changes. We lose the link to the forwards if we just play a Defoe/Itten alongside Morelos.

Not addressing the CM position is piss poor.
To be fair to him he went public telling the Board we need better CM after a game earlier in the season and they need to spend half descent cash in doing so.
Waiting until the final day of the window to save say 1/2 million is too late as we may have dropped even further behind.

I've constantly defended Kamara due to technical ability, youth and potential...but he's struggling. So negative, prone to errors, and zero 'gallus streak'

We desperately need a no. 8. Been saying it for 2 seasons now & it's blatant.

Kamara lacks the dynamism to play that role & he is awful when he gets the ball at the edge of the box. He's also not particularly great defensively. Positioning was rubbish today at times.

I think Davis would benefit from having a powerful player in next to him.

Arfield was pretty good today & found some excellent positions in the box. Would love to sign an upgrade to him. Someone of a similar mould but with a touch of quality above

The ref cost us today with his officials. Why cant folk see this?
We can see it but the defending was fucking brutal in a hard away fixture again!!! And we had 3 great chances at 2-1 to kill the game. When they equalised our midfield stopped winning second balls and looked scared to get on the ball, pretty similar to the past two seasons.

Why can’t you see this ?

I still think his style is a really odd fit for a team like us, Europe apart. It's almost too cerebral.

38 games last season, 1 goal (in the cup) and 0 assists. His record after arriving in January the season before was something similar. 8 games 0 goals and 0 assists so far this season.

I'm only too aware he's not that type of player, but for a young guy with legs who gets about the pitch and finds himself with the ball in dangerous areas, we should be trying to improve upon it. There's been no sign of that so far. Maybe if it was the EPL or La Liga you could carry that kind of specialist, but this is the SPFL. You look at that wee scoring run Jack went on last year - he was trying things and it was coming off. Why? Because the standard isn't that good and a bit of directness often works.

It's actually quite weird to watch Kamara at times in that he doesn't so much as countenance the thought of taking an effort or killer pass on.

Same as last year. when the going got tough the midfield froze in the lights.Exact rerun of the killie game last season .Davis and Kamara were loose in their passing all day but got away with it until Goldston decided to get in on the act .
Folk blaming the full backs for both goals and helander for not getting up to clear the second one is a strange take on things by some people .Hard to jump with an arm on your shoulder in the later case and could have easily been called a free kick out .Obvious offside too on the through ball . Make you sick .

We have all seen each of Davis, Jack and Kamara have plenty of good games for us. None of them is a bad player. But, unfortunately, I just don’t think that whichever two you pick in each of the 50 or so games in a season, over the course of a season they don’t quite give you enough. Whichever combination it is, it just doesn’t add up to enough. For me, that is the reality.

This team needs the central midfield to set the tempo and, far too often, the tempo is far too pedestrian.

Davis made a big mistake at the 1st goal. Completely lost his man and got dragged to the front post

Failure to address our midfield issues is unacceptable.
I agree Arfield may have scored today but we won't won the league with his calibre of midfielder, the double miss he had when through on the keeper just about said it for me, all players can miss chances but a good midfielder would have buried that today.

What infuriates me is watching other players play kamara into space just outside the box knowing that he will not or cannot take a shot. Its like being a man down.

i did not see that, i saw a team playing football against a team that was allowed to kick us up and down the park just like our previous two trips to rugby park under this official. I saw a player score the opening goal who would have seen red in any other league. I saw a secong goal that not only was offside but the goalscorer using his hand for leverage agaist the defender.

Thats what I saw, you clearly only sae our midfield looking scared, FO

If we had genuinely made progress and upgrades neither Arfield or Davis would be anywhere near the squad nevermind starting games.

Not good enough.

It’ll be the downfall continually trusting certain players. We are going to be expecting that same midfield three to start on Thursday and Sunday as it looks like we aren’t going to have anyone in or up to speed in time.

No harm to some of them, but the midfield unit just doesn’t work.
I love Davis, and for me he has to play, but we need better in beside him.
