ChatGPT says that Messi had 105 goal contributions and Ronaldo 83 in their best ever seasons. The likes of Mbappe or Vinicius Jnr would be hitting similar if not higher numbers if they played in England.

If Salah was playing in France or Germany, with the exact same numbers as he has this season in England, and proceeded to put in the two ineffective all time stinkers in Europe that he did against PSG, people would be falling over themselves to call them farmers leagues or whatever nonsense wee guys call them.

No, I agree that Player of the Month awards don't prove that one player is better than another. I think what they do show though is that a player is consistently performing at a high level when no other player has won more than they have.

He’s now in the top 10 Premier League goalscorers of all time and very possibly he over takes Henry and Lampard this season to move into the top 6. If he scores another 19 this season he’ll over take Aguero in be in the top 5. Interestingly enough, I was at Stamford Bridge for his first ever Chelsea goal vs Arsenal in 2014. I think he only scored 2 for them.

Now that’s checked off, I reckon he’ll break into the top 3 for goals scored next season.

Agree with all of this. He’s absolutely one of the best.

And folks best ever player is merely a preference. There is no way of deciding who is the best. Some folk may not even pick an attacker.

So many wonderful players have played in the EPL. What a league. But it’ll never top the 90’s (in my opinion).
