more James McCarthy fitness concerns

I doubt they have any intention of him being there for 4 years, but if they brought him in on 40K a week for 2 years their other players would revolt

So bring him in on 20K a week for 4 years, everyone knowing full well he will be paid up in full after 2 effectively gives him 40K a week for 2 years

I suspect similar with hart

ANGE POSTECOGLOU must be careful with his training demands of James McCarthy, according to Kevin Phillips.

The former England international has warned the Hoops boss McCarthy won't be able to last at the weekends if he faces too much physical work during the week.

The claims come after McCarthy suffered a knock in the 1-1 draw with Dundee United at the weekend.
Last week a report from The Athletic also claimed McCarthy was struggling with the pace and intensity of Celtic training.

Now Phillips has urged Postecoglou to keep McCarthy fresh for the weekends by monitoring his fitness during the week in training.

Phillips told Football Insider: “McCarthy is not a young player anymore and when you sign a player like that you have to manage him right. You have to do your due diligence with the sport science guys.
“If you want the best out of him on a weekend you cannot physically flog him during the week. You don’t want to tire him out otherwise he won’t be able to last long at the weekend.

“I’m a little surprised they gave him a four-year deal.

“They need to manage him now. It will be interesting to see how many minutes he plays this season.”

I would agree , I don't think Dame Edna signed him , as you say he was brought in to appease the Merry ploughbhoys .Dodgy Des written all over it.

Totally agree mate

Big Flange would not know much about him but as they have no DoF or Head of Recruitment it must be down to agents punting players in on spec or as you say Dodgy Des playing the ROI card

Still a potential costly disaster for them as I can’t see McCarthy getting over all his injury issues and being a regular 90 min player for them

Nae luck scumbags :)

He’s a good player so you can understand why they would take a chance on him but surely it would be on a twelve month contract not a four year one.

Dwindling appearances and serious injuries -> to 4 year contract.

Agent McKay just trying too hard, he could have had a raft in before being rumbled.

Shame !!!!

You'd think he was about the draw his pension reading that article. Suppose 4 years at the piggery will top up his pension nicely.

Unless they incorporated some kind of appearance bonus, that’ll cost them a bit which is nice. That wee daftie would rip up his contract if he couldn’t get a game due to injury to save “ma hoops a bit a money n aat” Instead of milking the daft cvnts for every penny. The Irish caird doesn’t seem to work this weather lol.

He's in good company with Turnbull and Rogic. They can't last 90mins either

Guy hasnt been fit for years , Great he got a 4 year contract will be loaned out next year with them covering 75% of the wages

They're still saying "wait until Forest is fit" :D

There's always an injury or some circumstance thats to blame for them being shite.

The only team in the world hampered by injuries, absolute weirdos with weirdo players who make up pretend voices.

Ha ha he's overtraining the entire team, McGregor was running on fumes towards the end of season straight into Euros only few weeks off then boom pre season and look what happens injured already.
They have seriously mismanaged him and Tierney, two crocks and won’t so much else in their careers… but thats okay as it was their dreams to be Sellik bhoys

Angies training methods will get rebelled against once the results start getting worse. The players look fucked by the 60 min mark most games just think how worse it will get with autumn kicking in now heavy pitches.

Re most teams know now they just need to target Kyogo and you'll pretty much nullify their team.

Yeah totally pal. Saying this from the start, that Kyogo had already played 20 games, he’ll of done a full season by Xmas (if not injured again). Not gonna work out.

Another one of their PR signings they do every now and again. A player that ticks their boxes (Tim, claims to be Irish, considered a biggish name/exciting prospect at his peak) but they wait until in their twilight to actually bring in, push the boat out for and end up with an expensive dud on their hands.

Short-term fan pleaser... until he actually plays and it takes a wee while before the reality sets in.

They're either:

being asked to train like normal pro footballers, unlike the crap Lennon would have put them through last season (a light jog followed by shooting practice), and they're falling to bits...

...or Ange is doing a Jurgen Klopp and has brought in a very intense training programme - I remember Liverpool players popping hamstrings left, right and centre in his first season.

Dan Sturridge still hasn't recovered.

Post on Kerryfail Street about him-

“He was appalling today before that tackle.

His awareness of what is going on around him is shockingly bad.

He seems scared to turn on the ball and only plays in the direction it came from.

A couple of those ridiculous passes to nowhere and then headed the ball to their striker, again because that was the way he was facing.

Another bizarre performance.

Still better than Soro.”

:D

100%, can’t treat all players like robots. More and more of them will pick up injuries as the season goes on they way they play and apparently how much they get run into the ground in training.
I’ve only seen there one game, against us.
what stood out, was the speed of their high press.
chasing down our ch’s when Robbie threw it out.
this must be his training mode for all his players, and not just the front players.
some not up to it.

There's a chance that players will rebel against his system as they're not up to the physical demands.
Could get interesting.
Players know themselves how physical the training should be. Pre season stuff during a busy schedule is madness, surely that can't still be happening with them? Anyway whoever has to massage this muppet back to fitness will end up with blisters.

Remember 15 years ago about how le guen treated the players fitness wise took until just after new year and he was gone once you lose the players that's it. The reaction of Rogic and Turnbull going off in Sunday no fist bumps for the manager from them.

They play full pelt for the 25/30 mins but start to go down hill quite quickly. By the 60th minute quite a few of them look done.
