New Forth Bridge - usable or chaos ?

Anyone using it last couple of days ? How's the traffic ? Heading down from Aberdeen and need to go to Livingston this afternoon.

If you're going "off peak" you should be fine.

I drove back over it yesterday to Fife at around 11:30 and there was no traffic at all queueing Northbound. Southbound there was maybe about 1 mile of crawling traffic.

Is that not just ridiculous. Billions spent and we end up with a new road systems that causes chaos. Or is this because its not fully integrated yet?

Stupid political design decision that it must not increase capacity - that and taking buses etc across the old bridge meant they could just do two lanes+hard shoulder, cutting 20m off the width (Which is why it came in under original budget)

Won't be fully integrated until the Public Transport Corridor is fully opened on the old Bridge. There is still the 40mph restriction either side of it too. Road, particularly, on the north side is still a mess. It will get better.

That said it wasn't built to reduce queues, it was built out of necessity as the old bridge really is past its best.

Northbound was fine yesterday though restricted to 40mph which seemed painfully slow - Coming back the other way was another issue as there was a lengthy queue
