Our Rangers Heroes: Incredible stories of forgotten heroes from across the ages, by long-time FF member Ian Hogg (me!).

At every turn, Rangers Football Club is steeped in history, but often that history centres on the club’s well-known legends whose names and deeds are part of football folklore. What about the players whose stories have been lost in the fog of time? Rangers’ history is about more than just a select group of stars. Rather, it is a rich tapestry of interconnecting tales, with each of the hundreds of players to have played for the club having their own unique story. Following on from my Heart and Hand podcast series ‘Our Rangers Player’, Our Rangers Heroes brings to life some of the lesser-known tales of icons of the past. From a Scotsman managing Egypt in the 1934 World Cup, to the Danish Resistance fighting the Nazis, to a Croatian car mechanic who lived the dream on the Côte d’Azur and played regularly in a top flight for only 6 months before his move to Rangers, there are countless untold stories from Rangers’ proud and interesting past that need to be told. This book uncovers some of the very best of them – hopefully the first volume of many.

Players such as James McCrae and Mohamed Latif, former Rangers player Juventus managers, the first Danish and Icelandic professional footballers (one fought the Nazis whilst the other attempted to become Iceland's head of state), Jim Forrest, Robert Prytz, Alex Stevenson and his tale of two Irish federations and more. It scratches the surface - there's loads more to cover.

If you fancy a copy, pre-sales have started for a 3rd April publication date - the book is £18.99, a hardback, with 16 photo plate pages in the middle.

All orders bought through the Heart and Hand site will be signed with a nice wee message; you can also read extracts from four chapters there too

Or from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/180150430X

Thanks Andrew - and yes, there is the story of a certain former captain of the USSR and the methods the Soviets adopted to resolve injuries........ and possibly why his movement was rather laboured when he joined us....... yet he kick started Celts for Change and they should simply say "thank you".

It’s an absolutely tremendous series.

And I’m sure the book will be outstanding . Ian has put a hell of a lot into it and the Attention to detail is amazing.

Hope this is the start of many Hoggy, as an avid collector of Rangers books the more the merrier for me. It’s been great to see so many recent books from new authors that have all been very well received.

I’ve ordered and look forward to the H&H podcast with David Best
