Non-Rangers transfers

Leipzig signed Simons for £45m which could raise to £80m with clauses that apparently will never be met because they plan on selling him in the summer for £60m+.

Was listening to Talksport last night and when the guy was discussing this transfer it made my head hurt. PSV have apparently lost out on a big payment as a result?

His deal was only until 2027 so you'd assume they need to move him on again soon to maximize value. It's all very odd, but Simons' career to date has been littered with ropey agent loopholes and leftfield clauses. Even before he signed his first professional deal.

Very interesting window overall. Hard to miss the parallels between ourselves and Man Utd. The sums are far greater in respect to them obviously, but the essential problems that Amorim has inherited - an aging squad that doesn't fit together and can't easily be moved on because its vastly overpaid, are essentially the same as those landed on Clement. The difference is that Amorim has tried to meet the problem head on from the get go, whereas Clement tried to adapt to what he had for the remainder of the first season.

When even Manchester United can't solve the problems quickly because of FFP, it's hardly surprising that we're in the same boat. I really hope that Stewart has learned from seeing these things first hand and that we benefit from that.

he also decided to start with a no-so attacking midfielder as a false 9 with 2 strikers on the bench

imagine Clement put Raskin in false 9 with Igamane and Dessers on the bench - this place would meltdown

i think Amorim is getting a fairly easy ride compared to what Clements had to deal with

On Man Utd, did anyone else think Rashford looked rough as f*ck at his Villa unveiling?

His hair was all over the place with a bloated coupon. It looked like he had been on it all weekend.
I thought he looked massive? Neck and arms looked huge which I’ve either never noticed before or he’s been battering the gym

Two players who would have likely been game changers for us. On and off park with their ceiling.

Borges is a bit of a strange one, for me.

23 years old, will be 24 next month, and has made only 44 appearances in the top league, lucky if his minutes equal 10 games at that level. He's scored 2 goals.

Most of his experience is in the Porto B team and you would say his numbers there are only decent. No loan spells.

Yet he's a £6m player. Seems to be a developing theme with Portuguese players around that age.
