[Northern Echo] Middlesbrough, Blackburn & Stoke after Jones.

If you're reading this JJ some of us will be sad to see you go. You made one mistake against them fella.

Pointing out your fantasyland valuations isn’t the sole preserve of Yahoos, my friend.
Fantasyland valuations for an international winger 1.5mil by all accounts isn't exactly that.....your hatred for all things positive about the club is....sniff sniff or your looking for arguments

Looks like reports of him being a shite trainer and out in the cold are a bit premature.

So not out the door yet?
That will majorly disappoint many on here, who according to Gerrard want nothing more to believe 'the noise'.
May be this 5 sub thing ...might yet save him?

Just because he’s been told he can leave doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get the going rate.

As long as there is a sell on clause for a part of any future fee on the off chance he’s successful down there & gets a big move.

Arsenal never paid £25m for Tierney because of what Paul from Coatbridge and Keith Jackson in the Record said he is worth £25m. They paid it because their recruitment team believed he was worth it.

Not quite correct. As you may recall, Arsenal kicked off the bidding by offering a sum significantly smaller than the £25m they eventually were made to pay for Tierney's services. Arsenal paid £25m for Tierney because celtic said that was what he was worth to them.

I would hope that Rangers take a similarly hard line if and when teams come calling for Morelos. '

Half the championship seem to be interested. £700-800k seems reasonable. Wilson got fees for Polster and Grezda so he should do us well out of this.

Jones was never going to be a regular starter for Rangers - he was never signed with that goal in mind. But handled properly, he would have been a significant asset to Rangers in particular types of games and in particular kinds of circumstances - we saw enough evidence of this in the very few opportunities he was given.

Let there be no mistake, Jones is being let go not because he couldn't contribute, but because Gerrard seems to have a dislike of him. All great managers have an ability to handle different personality types and get the best out of them - this is why they are great. Gerrard, a rookie manager, still it seems has much to learn.

Yes but they fact they paid £25m suggest they thought he was worth that. Of course they put in a few lower bids, that’s how business works

My point is that the party that decides 'actual value' or worth, is the party that owns the object of the transaction or sale. In this case, Tierney's transfer value was determined by celtic, who put a minimum value of £25m on the player, making it known to all interested parties that that was the sum they had to come up with if they wanted to do business.

I think what actually happens is that they have their ludicrous valuations, which just happen to be leaked to the press via a friendly ex player.

Next up, the media talk up only the superclubs being interested. Again, this is reinforced by their ring of ex players who have multiple platforms.

Then there's the phantom bid that's rejected as being too low from 'a London club' or 'Milan'. This bid is worth pyoor mullyins.

So far, the imaginary valuation has been reinforced 3 times, not only in the media, but in the minds of the soap dodgers and the minds of their board too, despite the fact they made it up and leaked it.

Said board instruct their recruitment team or whoever that player is available for (ridiculous valuation). Sometimes they'll get a bite (Tierney, McGeady), other times they won't, but they inevitably have their placemen tell you that the 1 year contract extension is worth more to the club than the price they knocked back, because (overpriced Diddy) is integral to the team, will be better than a new signing, and can only get better.

Over the next season or two, the cycle is repeated until either they get a huge bid or the player leaves on a Bosman.

Its all part of the same cycle, so Jackson, and Paul from Coatbridge play their parts too.

On the contrary £1.5m for a full international not yet at his peak is a bargain and is the minimum we should be looking for .
We were shafted big time for Waghorn and players like Jordan Thompson and John Fleck have went for fees in excess of 1m remember we got over 2m for Windass for god sake so I think 1.5 is reasonable and fair
Windass is a far superior player to Jones.
