Oakley United goalkeeper sent off for fighting with his OWN fans according to rivals Tranent Juniors
A JUNIOR goalkeeper was sent off for fighting with his OWN fans, according to a rival club’s Twitter account.

Tranent Juniors’ official page claimed the Oakley United keeper saw red after brawling with the supporters.

The two sides met in the second round of the East of Scotland Cup at United’s Blairwood Park in Dunfermline.

Everything appeared to be going well in the game until all hell broke loose at half-time.

Tranent described the chaotic scenes in a match report posted to their official Facebook page.

It said: “Half-time entertainment was provided by the Oakley GK and four of the home support who looked to have had a few sherbets.

“When the GK, who was subjected to verbal abuse by these screwballs the whole half, jumped the barrier and waded into the four of them.

“Headbutts, uppercuts and kung-fu kicks were on the menu, all witnessed by the players, supporters, including many children, and referee.”

The keeper was promptly sent off and things only got worse for Oakley.

Tranent took advantage of their superior numbers and eventually won the match 5-1.

And Oakley’s day got even worse when their goalscorer Lee Halpin was also sent off for a dangerous challenge late in the game.

The Scottish Sun has asked both clubs for comment.

It was always close to a scrap with opposing and some of our fans when I played.

Some of the abuse you'd take was horrendous and you'd hear every word shouted
 
Once played in a game where two of the opposing players got sent off for fighting each other.

In that situation commentators typically say that "nobody wants to see that sort of thing".

I very much disagree, like many things that are against the rules, it was glorious to watch.
 
This kind of stuff seems to be very much on the rise. Severe punishments should be handed out. Clubs should also face severe punishments when either a player or fan endangers the well-being of another player or fan. Celtc should not have been allowed to have escaped with the minor punishments they have, given the field invasions, etc. over the years.
