Old firm games in 2021? According to the Sun

First game, which is likely to be behind closed doors, is scheduled for the piggery so the mhanky mhob want it delayed until the crowds return.

You would think that after recent events they would wait a while until their next stunt but apparently not - they really do believe they can do whatever they want.

League isn't finished - just hand us the title. Next years fixtures don't suit - just change them.

It's almost as bad as the O'Donnell affair - sorry guys it doesn't suit us to play this one just now can we leave it until later when we have a better chance of winning?

No shame whatsoever.

It’s sky pushing for the games to be next year with the crowds in stadiums.

What difference does it make to Sky? Are any of us not going to watch it on TV if it's behind closed doors? There would be 60,000 people at the game that will need to tune in to sky to watch it if its behind close doors?

Don't be kidded, it's that mob that are behind this, it's hot the fat Japanese's grubby corrupting paws all over it.

maybe you havent noticed the previous 12years but every single decision made in scottish football is decided by one factor 'how does it benefit the mentally challengeds'. If you think otherwise fair enough but you're incredibly naive.

I'm well aware of that. But it's the incessant need to turn everything into some sort of Lawwell run Machiavellian type operation that is tiresome. It's becoming the default reaction on here. And while it's often relevant, on other occasions it's just plain (mentally challenged-like) moon howling.

Take the OP and some of the replies for instance, not a single mention of Sky being the obvious primary pushers of the proposed approach, just straight in with the Lawwell has taken out his notepad and has started re-drafting next year's fixtures theory.

It was damn obvious that there would be resistance to any idea of Old Firms being behind closed doors.

The article in the press (yes I know) stated that the SPFL were discussing it and suggested that Sky were likely to rubber stamp it.

That to me reads like it is an idea that has originally come from the SPFL and been put to Sky based on the fact that Sky would need to accept no OF games for 5 months if this was approved. Sounds like the SPFL have floated it with Sky who have given tacit approval.

If, as seems to be implied in the article, the idea originated from the SPFL then it would seem logical that it would be proposed by the only party who actually lose anything from the first OF game being behind closed doors.

Much like the bheggars didn't push for the season to be ended and for them to be awarded the title (they put the idea out there even telling people how positions should be calculated and then sat back while others did their bidding) they will have been the ones who suggested it and are now allowing their friends at the SPFL and Sky to sort it for them.

Not a conspiracy theory just an observation.

Now for the conspiracy theory - if this doesn't get approval and the 1st OF game is to be played behind closed doors what are the chances of the 2nd one being suitably early in the schedule to ensure that it too is behind closed doors.

Only way that might happen is schedule the 1st one as game 11 and 2nd one game 12 if the same format is still

Tricky one is how they go about it

Easy solution is to schedule the games as normal but postpone the 1st 2 to a later date

If the season kicks off in August there are 22 weekends between now and the end of the year.

While some think crowds will return soon after the best guess from the experts would seem to suggest January at the earliest for crowds to attend. The 2nd Old Firm fixture is normally at the New Year.

Normal scheduling would have the first OF around end Sept beginning Oct. The second would be a day or two either side of New Year.

If the first is to be behind closed doors then both the 1st and 2nd could be brought forward a few weeks to ensure both were BCD's so that no team (us) gained any perceived advantage.

No need for it to be game 11 and 12.

Sky can do absolutely anything they want. Would rather have than them spread out than close together if you get them in the scottish cup you could get 5 in no time.

yeah I understand the scheduling issue but we are due to go there in 1st round of fixtures i.e in 1st 11 games and they would come to us to us in the 2nd round hence why I said which games would suit and nullified any perceived advantage as it unlikely to see crowds back in October/November time

I guess we have have to see happens

It’s only Monday, and the sun have; a 16 team Prem next year, No games v the filth until 2021, Rangersare skint and have an unsustainable financial plan.

I don’t see any football being played before the turn of the year.
They’re doing fine in Germany. Most other European leagues starting up over next 2/3 weeks so again be interesting to see how they do

Also the Belarusian’s have continued with - admittedly quite sparse - crowds regardless and have seen the grand total of 2 postponements since this whole nonsense began.

I think to say no football or even crowds is a touch hysterical and doomsday stuff. However given how negative, controlling and nannying the toy parliament of Holyrood have been in handling the crisis it wouldn’t be a total surprise if we are the last league in Europe to start up or open its doors again.

In a sane and rational world football would start on time for next season and some form of attendance of fans not long after

What a joke. What if next season is also disrupted. Would they decide the title on a PPG basis without a single Old firm game being played. Actually that would be dependent on who was top, wouldn't it.

Celtic and the SPFL's recent actions would suggest they act with a common purpose. That's very apparent for at least the last dozen years.

Multiple chairman have voiced concerns on how much power Lawwell has on the Scottish game, and when the Dundee vote went south, the presumption was Doncaster would be in discussion with you know who.

If Peter/ SPFL want a fixture rescheduled it will happen

100% agree with everything here .
Corrupt cheating horrible bastards

Totally disillusioned with football at the minute, im not missing it or the skulldugery which goes on even out in the open, sickening.
still love our club
I’m hoping Covid wipes out most of Scottish football and the corruption synonymous with it so that it can facilitate a move for us to any other league .
