Rheinstadion, Düsseldorf. Used in 1974 WC and Euro88. Famously held the 1981 ECWC Final between Dynamo Tblisi and Carl Zeiss Jena, with less than 5k in the ground:

Today, a soulless box:

Zentral Stadion, Leipzig. Held over 100,000. They built the RB Arena in the middle of it:

In Düss, the ground is on the outskirts of the North of the city, beside the exhibition halls, the RB is in the middle of Leipzig.

Volksparkstadion Hamburg

Closed in 1998 and was demolished.

Current capacity is 57,000 including terracing in the Nordtribune (North Curve) where the Ultras are located.

The new stadium, while on the same site, is in a different orientation - the pitch is now north to south whereas it used to be east to west.

White City Stadium, Shepherd's Bush, built for the 1908 Olympics. From 1927 it was a venue for greyhound racing.
QPR used the ground in 1931-1933 and again in season 1962/63, it was also used to host the 1966 World Cup match between Uruguay and France.

The Valley is an interesting one, pretty sure it has the second biggest attendance record for football stadia in London after Wembley, 75k I think.

Surprising considering Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham and Fulham are more glamorous and definitely more successful.

Stamford Bridge record attendance is nearly 83,000.
The east terracing at Charlton was the biggest in the
country in the 1930’s.

You are kind of right and wrong about The Valley.

Whilst Stamford Bridge once had just shy of 83k for a football game compared to The Valleys record of 75k, I believe well over 80k saw The Who when they played their in the 70s

That original stadium looks to have had an enormous footprint in a built up area. Surprised they didnt move out of town like a lot of other clubs
Was there (Oviedo, not the stadium) last month. It’s a really small city, so I wouldn’t see a need for them to move outwith the city.

That makes me really sad.

Was the old Highbury designed by Archibald Leitch?

I think he designed the two stands that were listed buildings. The other two stands were demolished when the flats were built but the two listed stands were developed into flats - I think the front remains the same and features such as a marble hall possibly and the players tunnel were kept...I think that is right.

Leitch pretty much designed the ground that is in that pic Beer Belly Loyal poster above but it was demolished and the East and West stands were designed by different architects in the 1930s. It’s why the stands are very Art Deco.
