1918 - The London Gazette had some rare Rangers interest on this day, as former Rangers player Finlay Speedie was listed as a recipient of the Military Medal. Speedie, by that time plying his trade with Dumbarton, was fighting in World War One. He had joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders to play his part in the Great War and received his medal for courage in the field during a fierce spell of fighting on the Western Front
