During one of the most turbulent periods in the clubs history, in which they were eventually voted out of the SPL and placed in to division 3 of the Scottish Football League, football made a welcome return to Ibrox for this the first home game of the season in the first round of the League Cup.Interest was such, that the gaame was delayed for 20 minutes to allow for the massive support that turned up on the night. Rangers eased past their opponents with a solid performance and second half debut's for new signing's Francisco Sandaza and Kevin Kyle rounded off a perfect evening.
* Although the official attendance was given as 38,100, the actual attendance was nearer the 50,000 mark as the Club Deck was opened up to accommodate the massive crowd

1977 West Brom had the Three Degrees, ", Brendan Batson, Laurie Cunningham and Cyrille Regis. First time I had seen black players at Ibrox (there weren't really any black people growing up in Glasgow in the 70s). Remember thinking these guys are pretty good.

1996 Derek McInnes scored the first and last Rangers goal of the 9 in a row season. Shame how he turned out!

1999 Peak Mols, what a goal he scored.

Tennants Caledonian Cup. Jings! Brings back memories. Would love something similar to happen.
