Rangers had lost the first leg in Belgium 4-1 but took to the field determined to try and win the tie. They did so without key player Willie Henderson, who had turned up at Ibrox too late for selection (he claimed to have been held up in the traffic generated by the crowd of 76,000,although others are not so convinced),but those who made it in time put in a stirring performance that took Rangers to the brink of equalising before slipping out of the competition

2010 - Rangers 3 (Whittaker,Boyd Pen,Miller) Hibernian 0 - Scottish Premier League (48,161)
2012 - In what was probably the darkest day in the Rangers' 140 year history, it was announced that the club had entered administration - meaning it had been docked 10 points, effectively ending its Scottish Premier League challenge, the least of the worries of the supporters as the extent of the clubs financial plight began to unfold. The move followed an unsuccessful legal bid by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) at the Court of Session in Edinburgh to appoint its own administrator, with Craig Whyte's preferred choice, Duff & Phelps, being appointed.

2007 - Hapoel Tel Aviv 2 Rangers 1 (Novo) UEFA Cup Last 32 (13,000)

went with sports options overnighter , tel aviv was a cracking place

1976..Ibrox was packed to the rafters that day
Funnily enough we had played Aberdeen the week before at Ibrox in the league and the ground was half empty
The romance of the cup right enough

1986- if I remember correctly the lights at Ibrox failed for a while, or am I getting mixed up?

1986 - Rangers 3 (Paterson,Bell,Burns) Chelsea 2 - Friendly (17,512)

this the game that was mentioned on here not too long ago about being arranged at short notice?

1962 and Willie Henderson didn’t turn up on time and his excuse about the crowd was not convincing everyone.

Was he in dispute with the club at the time (contract, wages) or was it a discipline thing?

Correct. The sheep had been on a decent run under Ally McLeod and he was motor mouthing about what they were going to do to us in the two games. I think some of the newspaper headlines had been put up on the home dressing room walls

Sorry to be picky, but we've had at least one darker day

No that was the game at Stamford Bridge, if I remember correctly Rangers played on the Monday night and we found out that the game at Stamford Bridge would be on the Thursday night, think Rangers were playing thistle on the Monday

Good apart from that scumbag Cosgrove's voice
An incredible match, Rangers 2-0 up and the game won, pressed the self destruct button (sound familiar) and St Johnstone went 3-2 up. Redford scored the last minute equaliser. Incredible match, I remember one of the St Johnstone ball boys was in tears at the end. Rangers won the replay 3-1 at Ibrox.
