The previous September Cowdenbeath had visited Ibrox in the quarter-finals of the League Cup and pulled off a shock 3-2 win, thus becoming the first Second Division side to register a win at Ibrox.Although Rangers had gone on to win the away leg 3-1 and advance on aggregate, the pairing of the two sides in the Scottish Cup had aroused considerable interest.Lightning, however, didn't get to strike a second time as Rangers totally overwhelmed their more lowly opponents and hit eight without reply

Another win for Rangers in the cup and Jimmy Bowie scores the last goal, but sadly it would be another 17 years in 1928 the Rangers would end the "hoodoo"

Funnily enough I had a stinking hangover yesterday which was probably the worst I've had since Ayr in the cup last season.

our roman catholic south african?

1967 : Prime Minister Kosygin of the USSR was introduced to the teams before kick off iirc

1989 : I can’t remember if it was an own goal but it was certainly a last minute equaliser. I was standing in the Dundee United end during that game. Hellish experience

1967 - a landmark game for this older Bear. That day is full of memories with Alexei Kosygin being given a fantastic welcome onto the pitch before the game by the thousands of Bears who chanted his name.

Re 1967 - this may be a stupid question, but why was he?

The goal came from a lump up the park. I can't remember if it was John Clark or Hamisg McAlpine who put it into our box but there was a huge pile in and the ball got bundled over the line. I remember Souness losing the rag with the ref at the end as he had played a load of added on time when there had hardly been a stoppage in the 90 minutes. I was also in among their supporters on their old high terracing and had to restrain my pal from skelping one of them.
