The outbreak of the Second World War caused immediate abandonment of the Scottish League and threw the sporting world into chaos.Whilst regional leagues were later organised once it became clear that the Germans were unlikely to invade, cup football was a different matter altogether. In late 1939 the SFA annonced the introduction of the Emergency War Cup,which would figure a two-legged first round then a straight knockout for the rest of the competition.

For the second consecutive week Rangers were forced to play on a Sunday because of the miners' strike and power cuts affecting the Country. This time a crowd of only 15,500 were in attendance, nearly 50,000 less than had witnessed the previous week's match.
1979 - Hearts 3 Rangers 2 (Smith,Parlane) - Scottish Premier Division (16,500)
1997 - Former Rangers player Colin Liddell died. Born in 1926 Colin played for Morton in the 1948 Scottish Cup final and was snapped up by Hearts the following year for £10,000,then a record fee, before joining Rangers in 1950. In six years at Ibrox he made only 35 appearances, scoring eight times

1998 - Another Bjorklund and Goram calamity, Durie collapses on the pitch and we drop yet another two points in the title race.

2001 - Three missed penalties. Sara missed 2 for Dundee, Dodds stuck one by the post for us. Bert smashes home a free kick for the winner

2002 - Was live on the BBC. Arveladze scores and gets injured in the process.

1998 A howler by Any Goram for their goal, and the night Gordon Durie gave us all a fright when he played on after a head knock then collapsed.

2001 was that game on pay per view tv?

2011 - Thought we were out when they scored to make it 2-1 inside the last 10 minutes, then got that goal in injury time. Edu scored but I think Lafferty and Papac were both ready to tap it in as well

Mendes scored the first goal for Sporting

2011, hardly in the game till Steven Davies played a great ball across and Diouf scored with a header.Heading out till Foster shows some fancy footwork andplays it across and Edu slots it home right at the death, bedlam amongst the Bears..
Another great trip..

1973-Pat Stanton's incredible miss at the Copland Rd end sticks in the mind.
2017- ICT bottom of the league. At 1-1 Foderingham produces a great penalty kick save on 88 minutes to scrape a point. Then we still contrive to lose a goal from an overhead kick! Grim.
