By the time Rangers and Hibernian reached the final of the Victory Cup,the SFA realised they did not have a trophy to hand over at the end of the game,so a call was sent out to Aberdeen, holders of the Southern League Cup,for the immediate return of the trophy. This was the same trophy Rangers had won as the Scottish Emergency War Cup in 1940 and as Southern League Cup in 1941,1942,1943 and 1945.
Somehow or other, the trophy was always destined for Ibrox, for after winning 3-1 Rangers received the cup and took it home, where it still resides today.
1954 - Bill Struth retired as Rangers manager after 34 years in the post and at the age of 79. He was already a director of the club and therefore after relinquishing his managerial position concentrated on matters in the boardroom.
1975 - Victoria 1 Rangers 5 (McKean 2, Parlane, Johnstone ,Stein) - Friendly (Played In Melbourne) (35,000)

1984 - Toronto Blizzard 2 Rangers 0 - Toronto Sun Sesquicentennial Series (Played At Hamilton,Ontario) (7,482)
2010 - David Murray announced that the club was no longer for sale, after protracted talks with Andrew Ellis proved fruitless. Murray told that recent success on the pitch, plus positive talks with bankers, had built a strong platform to move forward with a business plan which he said would provide stability under his ownership. It appeared to bring to a close the lingering doubts of Rangers for once and for all - but it did not take long for the takeover talk to resurface
2015 - Mark Warburton is confirmed as Rangers 14th manager. The 52-year-old former Brentford boss and assistant David Weir, the former Rangers captain, signed a three-year contracts at Ibrox.

At a late-night Board meeting, the decision is made that former player Scot Symon is to be selected as the man to succeed Bill Struth as Rangers Manager. After retiring as a player, he had become Manager of East Fife who he guided to unprecedented success. In 1949, he won the League Cup, and reached the final of the Scottish Cup. In 1953, he got his reward, a move to England with Preston North End. In his only season at Deepdale, he managed them to an FA Cup Final.
