The very first cup final meeting between Rangers and Celtic attracted a crowd of 8000 to Celtic Park to see the two sides who were beginning to take over from Queen's Park as Scotland's biggest clubs (Rangers had infact beaten Queen's Park in the semi-final 7-1, albeit after two replays).

Rangers beat Eastern Division Champions Falkirk in the play-off match at Ibrox in front of a crowd of 15,000 thanks to goals from Alec Venters and Adam Little,with Charlie Napier replying for Falkirk.It was a fitting end to the season,for when the Scottish league had been abandoned the previous September,Rangers had been top of the table,one point ahead of Falkirk.
