Tommy Cairns made his last League appearance for Rangers. He joined Rangers in 1913,having previously played for Bristol City and St.Johnstone, and formed a highly successful partnership with Alan Morton on the left wing for Rangers, helping them to the title on five occasions. He left Rangers to return to England with Bradford City and spent five years at Valley Parade before retiring shortly before his 42nd birthday. He later returned to Scotland ,where he scouted for Arsenal throughout the 1930's and died in 1967 at the age of 77.

A superb first-half performance, capped by goals from Dave Smith and Alex Willoughby, seemed to put Rangers in control, but they should have turned their superiority into further goals, as the second leg was to prove

one thing I will say, east fife was always a good away day

1975 Colin Stein returns ,1st game back?
I’m sure it was a game v St Johnstone he made his return

I was only a youngster but remember guys wearing white skinners with Colin down one leg and Stein down the other.

I think Rangers scored early and we missed it queuing to get into the Broomloan terrace.

Yes his first game back was v St Johnstone at Ibrox.

More than once.
The best known would be the 1977 Scottish Cup final.
The 1977 SC final was shown live on TV and the attendance was c54,000. The two earlier old firm finals in the 70s, which were not live on TV, both drew crowds of over 120,000. Useless information but I thought I’d share it. :D

All very true. But by 1977 the capacity had been reduced to 85,000 ? I'm sure there were around 70,000 tickets sold for the 1977 final but due to the weather and being live on TV a lot of people decided to give it a miss.

2016 - It was Baltic that night.

2017 - really not a good atmosphere that night. Rob Kiernan getting sent off for being an idiot didn't help.

Agreed, just pointing out the difference. It was a miserable day all round, the weather and the game. Never a penalty either imho. :)

1967 - I was late in getting to Ibrox that night and missed the two goals.

1969 - a very dour hard cup tie. That Airdrie side was comprised of some big and tough players, including my old PE teacher, Derek Whiteford.

1975 - a last gasp winner from wee Tommy that day. I was stood right in the middle of the old Copland Road end and it was like slow motion when the ball broke to McLean and he rolled it into the net from the edge of the box. The place went crazy.

2014 a late penalty from Jig IIRC. Looked like a share of the spoils up there. Not a good performance

1989 - Was in Asda in Perth today. Didn't realise 32 years ago I was watching Souness strut his stuff in the exact same place.
