Tommy Cairns made his last League appearance for Rangers. He joined Rangers in 1913,having previously played for Bristol City and St.Johnstone, and formed a highly successful partnership with Alan Morton on the left wing for Rangers, helping them to the title on five occasions. He left Rangers to return to England with Bradford City and spent five years at Valley Parade before retiring shortly before his 42nd birthday. He later returned to Scotland ,where he scouted for Arsenal throughout the 1930's and died in 1967 at the age of 77.

A superb first-half performance, capped by goals from Dave Smith and Alex Willoughby, seemed to put Rangers in control, but they should have turned their superiority into further goals,as the second leg was to prove

1967 - massive queue at the boys gate and I didn't get in until 20 minutes after the kick off and missed both goals.

1969 - that particular Airdrie side were a very hard lot and took no prisoners. My school's PE teacher, Derek Whiteford played for them and he was a decent player. It was a hard fought game and I remember an older Airdrie supporter telling me after it that we would not get it any tougher.

1975 - Ralph Callachan scored a great equalising goal for Hearts. It was a vital game and we thought it was a dropped point before Wee Tommy got onto the ball after a scramble in their penalty box in the dying seconds. The Bears went absolutely loopy when the ball rolled into the net.

2014 - Another last gasp winner that day after Templeton won us the penalty.

2017 - we tossed a two goal lead but yet another last gasp winner and a great goal at that.

1980 - A certain mercurial Belfast boy was playing for the opposition.

There was one spectacular cameo moment when he zipped a cross field pass from one side of the park to the other and it never rose above the grass.

1967-weather not unlike the present. 2-0 up by half time and then both Smith and willoughby had goals chalked off for offside.
2017 That clown kiernan got sent off when we were in front and we needed a last gasp hyndman goal to win after being 2-0 up.
40 years in a flash!
