1875 - Rangers 1 (Moses McNeil) Third Lanark RV 2 - Scottish Cup 2nd Round Replay (2,000)
This match was the SFA-ordered replay of a game Rangers had won 1-0 but which had been declared void as Rangers had kicked off in both halves. The replay was equally contentious, for after the game Rangers complained to the SFA on three counts;that Third Lanark's goalkeeper had played in ordinary street clothes and therefore had been indistinguishable from the crowd gathered behind the goal, that Third Lanark's first goal should have been disallowed as it was a hand ball, and lastly because the crowd had spilled on to the pitch and forced the game to be abandoned some seven minutes early. The appeal fell on deaf ears, thereby allowing Third Lanark to progress on towards the final, where they were finally beaten by Queen's Park after a replay.

1948 match at St Mirren attracted 40,000. Love Street must have been jammed tight.

1971 - Rangers 2 (Johnston 2) Dundee 3 - Scottish League Division One (33,200)

Dundee were 3-0 up with less than 20 mins played.
Willie Johnston, who had come off the bench the previous week to score a Hat Trick at St Johnstone,
was given a start (in place of Graham Fyfe), pulled two goals back for Rangers, but it was not enough.

This was our only defeat in a run of 13 League games between Oct 9 and Jan 1 where we won all 12 other games. taking 24 out of a possible 26 Points.
Despite this successful run, we still finished 3rd in the League, 16 points adrift of Celtic (2 points for a win back then).

We did however bring home the European Cup Winners Cup!

1968 - Dundalk 0 Rangers 3 (Stein 2,Mathieson) - Inter Cities Fairs Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg (10,000)

Colin Stein, who took his tally to 8 Goals in his first 3 games, was cruelly denied a consecutive Treble of Hat Tricks when his last minute Header hit the inside of the post and rolled along the Goal line,
(possibly hitting the other post?...... or maybe that was a forged romantic memory of mine!

DWS Amsterdam do they still exist or if I recall are a kind of junior type of team / set-up.

From Wikipedia:

"In 1972 the club merged with Blauw-Wit Amsterdam and Volewijckers to form FC Amsterdam. DWS continued as an amateur club, which still exists today. They celebrated their 100 year Jubilee in 2007.[4]"

DWS Amsterdam was the first European game my dad took me to see. I can remember absolutely nothing about them or the game, but I'm glad I read this thread as whenever I tell anyone I was there the only answer I get is "never heard of them"!

1875 Looks like the Compliance Officer was around back then... we have a win scrubbed for kicking off both halves, we don't get a defeat scrubbed even though the opposition fans invaded the park and got the game stopped with 7 minutes still to play!
Was Regan's great great great granddad another SFA boss?
