Rangers had been due to play the second leg at the beginning of the month but heavy rain forced a postponement. The weather was little better when the two sides did get to play, turning the pitch into a quagmire and making Rangers' passing more difficult,to say the very least.Although they took the lead (a penalty converted by Johnny Hubbard),they were soon pegged back on aggregate. One player from each side was sent off in the closing minutes and the police had to escort the referee off the field. The result meant a third match ,penalty shoot-out's not yet being introduced.

1996 what a night that was. The van Vossen miss, Gazza missing a penalty, Goram saving one, and a fox on the pitch!

1906 - Rangers 7 (R.G.Campbell 7 2Pens) Morton 0 - Friendly

Amazing that one player would score all 7 goals in a 7-0 win, not sure if that has ever happened before or since.
This was a benefit match for the Clyde Boilermakers Distress Relief Fund.
Apparently the Referee blew his whistle as RG Campbell struck home his seventh of the day, and officially wrote it up as a 6-0 scoreline!

1953 - Rangers 8 (Thornton 3,Waddell 2 1Pen,Paton,Hubbard,B.Simpson) Hamilton Accies 1 - Scottish League Division One (25,000)
(13,829)

The 33 year old Willie Thornton bangs home his 12th hat trick of his career, some 15 years on from his first as an 18 year old back in 1938.
The only Rangers Player who can claim Hat Tricks in Three different decades!

One of my fav old form games so much happened for it to be a 1 nil game. Penalties missed ( there’s near the end if remember and Goram celebrating with a few choice words) the van vossen miss that is always brought up but cost us as much as Gazzas pen.........nothing. I’m sure it was a Thursday night too, anyone know why?

There used to be a cracking video of 2004 filmed from the hibs end as we scored. Someone raging that 'we were never even in the game'. Cant find it now

2004 we played most of the game with 10 men after Willie Young sent off Novo for very little.
We won the appeal meaning Nacho could play the following week against Celtic. He scored, we won.

Is that the game novo got sent off in and it got scrubbed and he was available for the next weeks old firm game that he duely scored in?

Jimmy Millar's first season as a Centre Forward, after he had been forced into the position by an injury to Max Murray, in an end of season Friendly, and scored all 4 goals in a 4-0 against Staevnet.

This took Millar's tally to 8 Goals in a week, having scored a Hat Trick the previous Sat v Clyde, and one against Bratislava in midweek, in the European Cup.
His tally for the season so far, now stood at 26 Goals in 21 Games.
The next four seasons 1959-63 Jimmy Millar would score 134 Goals in 183 Games!
