Ian McColl made his debut for Rangers, the first of 526 appearance for the club.Born in Alexandria in June 1927 and signed with Rangers by the time he was 18,he eventually replaced Scott Symon in the side.McColl went on to feature in the side for the next 15 years, winning six League titles, five Scottish Cups and two League Cups,as well as collecting 14 caps for Scotland. He later went into management ,including a spell at Sunderland and managed the national side in the 60's.

1983 - FC Porto 1 Rangers 0 - European Cup-Winners Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg (63,000
Soon after the first leg victory over FC Porto,Rangers had parted company with manager John Greig, with Tommy McLean stepping into the position on a temporary basis and looking after the side for the return leg. A single goal in 53 minutes was enough to win the game and the tie,Porto advancing into the next round on away goals
1985 - Rangers 0 Clydebank 0 - Scottish Premier Division (16,943)
1991 - Rangers 1 (McCoist) Celtic 1 - Scottish Premier Division (37,387)
1996 - Raith Rovers 2 Rangers 2 (Van Vossen,McCoist) - Scottish Premier Division (9,722)
2002 - Dundee 0 Rangers 3 (Malcolm,Lovenkrands,Moore) - Scottish Premier League (10,124)
2006 - Rangers 2 (Novo,Adam Pen) Maccabi Haifa 0 - UEFA Cup Group A (43,062)
Rangers defied domestic form again in the UEFA Cup as their deserved victory over Maccabi Haifa took them to the top of Group A. Nacho Novo broke clear after only five minutes to gather a Kris Boyd flick and his low drive deflected off Alon Harazi and past goalkeeper Nir Davidovitch. A Boyd penalty was saved by the goalkeeper immediately after the break. And he turned a Barry Ferguson drive against the post before being beaten by a Charlie Adam spot-kick on 89 minutes. Rangers had been forced to make a late change to their starting line-up after goalkeeper Lionel Letizi suffered a back injury during the warm-up. Allan McGregor's return to the side meant it was all change at the heart of the defence. Julien Rodriguez was consigned to the bench, while Sasa Papac was cup-tied. So Brahim Hemdani dropped back to partner Karl Svensson, while Jeremy Clement returned to midfield and Dado Prso replaced Thomas Buffel up front.
2010 - Valencia CF 3 Rangers 0- European Champions' League Group C (25,000)
A goal in each half from Roberto Soldado and a late strike by Tina Costa ensured that the knockout stage of the Champions' League receded for Rangers with their first defeat of the season after 15 games in three tournaments. Steven Naismith felt the pain of the evening more than any of his colleagues, having seen a first half shot and a second half header rebound from the post

37000 for an Old Firm. Don't think we will ever see numbers that low again

Yeah, after a poor back pass by Spackman. Crowd was so low due to the ongoing work for the Club Deck.

I did think that might have been around that timeframe. Had a quick check on google but couldn't see for sure.

2006 - is this the game where that mad mentally challenged jumped out of the copland and ran the length of the park and tried to handcuff himself to the goalposts at the broomy?

1983.. what a trip to Porto that was
Left Glasgow Sunday morning and didn't get home till the early hours of the following Saturday

2010 Valencia 3 Rangers 0

A touch flattering scoreline for Valencia, could easily have been 3-2 had Naismith not hit the post twice.

The only time I've seen the Bears in Spain where their old bill didn't perform to their usual brutal standards.

Unlike Villarreal, Osasuna and Barcelona.

1985 That was a soul destroying season. We started quite well but then could hardly string 2 results together. Heartbreaking to see Jock Wallace in charge of a team struggling to finish 5th, although he didn't see the season out. Hard to believe, but if it wasn't for McCoist starting to score regularly, we were poor enough to have been in the relegation zone.
Only a vague memory of this 0-0 with Clydebank, pretty sure it was a game I was so bored ended up passing the time by trying to count the fans in the Broomloan Front as it was really empty.

I think the game against Arbroath in 1968 was Colin Steins first match and he grabbed a hat trick. He did it the next week against Hibs.

1991 - very brave header from Ally. Something I never thought he got much credit for in his career.

My first Euro trip to see the Gers. We left Edinburgh on the Saturday night and arrived home on the Saturday morning, a home defeat by the yahoos that day rounded of a pretty shit week score wise.
