James Marshall scored five of Rangers' goals at Cappielow Park as they strode to their biggest win of a championship winning season. The previous campaign had seen them slip to sixth place in the table, but with Marshall firing in 20 goals during the season and Fleming and Morton also getting into double figures, the title was on its way back to Ibrox

Rangers retained the League Cup for the third consecutive season, the first time in their history they had accomplished this feat. The opponents were the same as the previous year and the match just as entertaining, with a last minute goal from Ally McCoist ensuring the victory.
2007 - Rangers 0 Barcelona 0 - European Champions League Group E (49,957)
Rangers produced a terrific, disciplined performance to earn a valuble Champions League point against a rather wastful Barcelona at Ibrox. Ronaldinho hit the crossbar,Messi had a shot cleared off the line and Henry headed over as the visitors threatened throughout. But the longer the game went on,the more belief Rangers seemed to muster. Daniel Cousin missed the best chance with ten minutes left as he lashed his first-time shot over the bar from inside the box.
2011 - Hearts 0 Rangers 2 (Naismith,Jelavic) - Scottish Premier League (15,495)
2016 - Rangers 0 Celtic 1 - Scottish League Cup Semi-final (Played at Hampden Park) (50,967)

2007 - Cant believe this was 10 years ago. I thought we were going to nick the victory in the end

2011 - Jealvic's goal was sublime

1965 - Forrest through twice in the first 10 minutes with one on ones on Ronnie Simpson and he fluffed both of them. It cost us very dearly - and for many years to come as well imo.

1967 - When Mathieson scored our first goal (and it was a lovely goal) it prompted a chorus of, "You can stick your Tommy Gemmell up your arse". Unknown to me until the following day was that a Mr Jock Stein was sitting in our Main Stand, which he left at half time vowing never to return unless his own team was playing. We did not play well that night and the support was very restless until we got our second late on. It was maybe a harbinger of things to come during the following week.

2007 - Hard to believe this morning that that game was 10 years ago.

2007 - the great Lionel Messi being back pocketed by the even greater Sasa Papac!

2011 - Jelavic goal was outstanding. Naismith was in sensational form about this time, I think he got injured a week or 2 later.

1971 Rangers 4 Motherwell 0

Was at this game as a youngster 0-0 at half time there was a big roar at H/T asked my dad why everyone was cheering.
It was because of the latest score from Hampden Partick 4 Celtc 1..

I know this is a Rangers thread , but I always remember 23/10/71, not only as the day I got married, but also as the day the poets got humped 4-1 by Thistle in the League Cup Final. Celtic thought they only had to turn up to win the cup that day.
