1878 - Clapham Rovers 1 Rangers 5 (M.McNeil 2,Hill,Struthers,Steel) - Friendly (Played At Kensington Oval)
This was the first time Rangers had travelled to London for a match and they recorded a fine win over Clapham Rovers,a side that would end their season with an appearance in the English FA Cup final (where they were beaten by Old Etonians).Despite the scoreline, which would reflect an easy win for Rangers,it was their first win of the season, having already lost to Govan,Vale of Leven and Queen's Park and drawn with Third Lanark. On their way back to Scotland,Rangers stopped off at Nottingham to renew acquaintance with the Forest club.
1879 - Blackburn Rovers 1 Rangers 4 (Dunlop 2,Untraced) - Friendly (2,000)
1884 - Third Lanark RV 0 Rangers 3 (Lawrie,Cook,Morton) - Scottish Cup 3rd Round (4,000)
The two previous encounters with Third Lanark in the second round had produced a number of protests from Third Lanark, and after Rangers had swept them aside in the third round,Third Lanark again complained to the SFA over the composition of the Rangers side. The offending player this time round was Tommy Cook, who was a Rangers player, but the registration cards appeared to have been altered, for the initial alongside Cook's name looked more like a J that had been altered to a T.Third Lanark complained but the committee found in Rangers' favour and they progressed into the fourth round to meet Arbroath.
1890 - Rangers 2 (Kerr,Hislop) Partick Thistle 3 - Friendly (2,000)
1902 - Morton 3 Rangers 0 - Friendly (1,500)
1905 - Bob McPhail was born in Barrhead. McPhail was signed by Rangers from Airdrie in 1927 for a then substantial fee of £5,000 and went on to become one of the most prolific strikers ever to play for the club, scoring 261 goals in 408 appearances. He made his first appearance for Rangers on 13 August 1927 in a 3-2 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie. He netted his first goals on 3 September 1927, a double in a 5-1 win over St Johnstone at Ibrox. Rangers won both the League title and the Scottish Cup in McPhail's first season with the club and McPhail scored a total of 23 goals in 42 appearances, including a goal in the 4-0 win over Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final.

1987 - Rangers 3 (Cooper,Durrant,Fleck) Aberdeen 3 AET (Rangers Won 5-3 On Penalties)- League Cup Final (Played at Hampden Park) (71,961)
Rangers retained the League Cup,the only trophy they were ultimately to win in Graeme Souness's second season in charge at Ibrox. The final itself was one of the best in the competition's history, with both sides pushing for goals throughout the game.It went to extra time than a penalty shoot-out before Rangers emerged triumphant 5-3.
1989 - St.Mirren 0 Rangers 2 (McCoist,Johnston) - Scottish Premier Division (15,130)
1992 - Rangers 2 (McCall,Smith OG) Aberdeen 1 - League Cup Final (Played at Hampden Park) (45,298)
This was the fourth time in six seasons that Rangers and Aberdeen had met in the League Cup final, with Rangers having won three of these.Stuart McCall gave Rangers the lead following an error by Dons keeper Snelders, although Duncan Shearer equalised to send the game into extra time.An own goal by Gary Smith gave Rangers the cup for the 18th time.

1987 was an absolute cracker of a game.

I think the quality of Durrant's goal is often overlooked as everyon remember THAT free kick.

1992 - The Snelders error as a result of confusion still surrounding the pass back law. He tried to chest a ball down that was played back to him and royally fucked it up.

1987 - An iconic match with an iconic goal - Cooper's free kick. Like the Dryborough Cup Final goal, Cooper is so good he actually overshadows another very good goal in this game. Durrant's goal is an excellent team goal with him, Fleck and McCoist linking up and carving open a strong Aberdeen defence. There was a real sense of togetherness about the club at this time - board, management, players and fans all on the same page. The Rangers News the previous midweek had a front page from David Holmes which basically amounted to 'f*ck them all' (Butcher, Woods and Roberts had been charged after the Bheggars game). Great times.

2000
- A team we'd mauled 5-0 at Ibrox and I don't think we turned up in Austria. Numan got sent off; van Bronckhorst was thrown back in after injury, got injured again and effectively ended his Rangers career; Amoruso and Advocaat arguing with each other; Negri thrown on as a sub for his first appearance in about 2 years. Just mental.

1975-wee doddie with another headed goal.
1987-Ian Durrant was tremendous and fitting he scored the winning penalty.

2000 - the difference between Sturm Graz home and away was night and day. Numan got a second yellow for coming onto the pitch without permission after being told to come on by the officials

I had it in my mind that his first booking was for that but your point still stands.

Didn't we get his red card rescinded for that very reason?

Could have been his first yellow mate, I know it was definitely one of them. And yes it was rescinded he played against Monaco in the next match
