Rangers had to endure some particularly fast and furious tackling from their Belgian opponents in the first leg and were made to suffer even more in the second leg. Alex Scott was put out of the game for some time when he was sent crashing into a boundary wall, finally returning to the fray with his head in bandages. Goals from Andy Matthew and Ian McMillan enabled Rangers to win 7-2 on aggregate, but they had been given first-hand experience of one of the more robust styles of play on the continent

Sure McCullochs was a cracker from long distance that day.

1981 Brechin. Torrential downpour. I have a memory that it rained for 7 consecutive days. Some papers gave the crowd as only 2000.

1967 - I was physically ejected from Brockville by the cops that day. That ground was possibly one of the most dangerous in Scotland. We had gubbed that mob the week before and Brockville was absolutely jammed. Before the game starred I was stood to the right of one of the goals when there was a massive crowd sway. People were being crushed and a lot of us spilled onto the track. A cop grabbed me and told me to get back onto the terracing. At that point there was still mayhem in the crowd and I refused. I was then huckled, marched round the track and put out the door that the cops used.

1970 - Joe McBride took some stick from the Derry that night, especially after he missed a penalty. The place was jumping.
