Defending champions Celtic might have been expected to provide Rangers with their sternest test of the season so far ,but in front of a crowd of 45,000 at Celtic Park,Rangers proved simply irresistible .Bobby Neil scored his third consecutive penalty and there were other goals from John McPherson, Campbell and James Miller as Rangers made it six wins out of six

1962 - Ally McCoist born in Bellshill. Although Ally was spotted by Rangers whilst still a youngster, he twice rejected offers to join the club in order to begin his career at the mere humble surroundings of St.Johnstone. This was followed by a brief spell with Sunderland in the English Football League before finally returning home and joining Rangers in June 1983 for £185,000. After a hesitant start to his Ibrox career, Ally became established as one of the finest goalscorers of his age, netting better than a goal every other game for Rangers and becoming the clubs highest goalscorer. he won an abundance of medals at Rangers, including the championship nine times in a row.

1980..we got absolutely shafted by the ref who awarded them a last minute penalty for a foul that was about 2 yards outside the box
Disgraceful decision

1997 - This was the night Williamson said post match that Negri would hit 70 goals that season.

2005 - "We won't go 3-5-2" says Alex McLeish pre match. Lo and behold we went 3-5-2 and got ripped to shreds & abandoned it after 30 minutes.

1898 - Rangers got a penalty very early on. It is not know if the refs windaes were panned later that night.

1910 - A decent crowd if at Hampden. Incredible if at Shawfield.

1927 - Another belter of a crowd.

1949 - Directors box apart, basically a stench free Ibrox.

1980 - George Smith, I believe. Kamikaze pass from Jackson, mind.

1986 - McMinn ran riot that night. Cooper was in the mood too, as was Durrant if I remember correctly. The night before Fr Burns 'prostituted his faith' in the penalty shoot out v Motherwell. Well, according to his cardinal that is.

2008 - I think Boyd's was a roaster that night.

1975- Rangers got a fright that night, the game went to extra time after QoS scored in the last minute

Had to check it out, it was indeed 42,000 at Shawfield.

In the other Semi Final Celtic beat Third Lanark 1-0 with a whopping 12,000 at the Piggery.

A couple of seasons later, another 10,000 more crammed into Shawfield for a SC tie between the sides. A record of course, which still seems scarcely credible.

Like yourself, I've been in Shawfield with 25,000 and it was packed to the rafters.
