1890 - Celtic 1 Rangers 0 - Scottish Cup 1st Round (16,000)

Severe rioting by Celtic fans during the game led the Lord Provost of Glasgow,Sir Patrick Dolan,to state, ' The Chief Constable has powers to prohibit games between Celtic and Rangers until the end of the war,and i have informed him that if he cares to exercise that power,he will have the support of all citizens'. Although the games were not banned,Celtic Park was closed for a month and they were forced to play home matches at Clyde's ground,Shawfield.

Rangers' 2-0 win over St Mirren was a hard fought victory as they had to overcome what the press described as a nine-man defensive set-up from The Buddies. Willie Johnston got the opening goal with a header from a John Greig cross and moments later the lead was doubled though a Provan penalty

Dutch legend Ronald de Boer made his Rangers debut.

1980 Dreaded a doing at Tannadice that day and we blew a very good Dundee Utd away. Think we were 3 up in quite quick time.
The John Greig managerial years were mainly abysmal, but there was the occasional day like this when we started to think the team had finally clicked.

Was standing at the Gorgie Road end for the 1975 game. I have it in mind the own goals were scored at that end too but may be wrong. Great day out none the less

Good to see Sam English is back too

1897 Men like Sandy Archibald are the reason why our club should have a museum to keep our past glories in the minds of generations to come. 17 seasons a Ranger, winning an incredible 13 league titles. The Hall of Fame was created to honour that kind of service and achievement. A candidate for the right wing in our true Greatest XI, not the one for players since the telly became colour.

Great to have this thread back, incidentally 1941 Sir Patrick Dolan the first RC Provost of Glasgow and has his name associated with the Dolan Swimming baths in East Kilbride

I am in total agreement with DH1963. We are all constricted by our age. We can only think about great Rangers teams and players we have seen in our individual lifetimes and hopefully we shall see in the future.

A museum or some other digital platform is an absolute must to give our younger supporters the chance to learn about our Club, its history and the men who have made The Rangers.
