I’m raging about this, I think.

Mind Petrov scoring at the Copland end, celebrating towards the fans and getting lamped right in the dome with a coke and ice, some shot from about 10 rows back.

Some folk seem a bit quick to dismiss this dangerous straw incident. Don't they know one of these things can break a camel's back? It's in The Bible.
Then there's the paper cup. With considerably more heft than the straw, these weighty items could easily bruise the wing of a passing moth.
We should be thanking the super soaraway for pointing out the dangers we face when attending European fixtures.

It could have been a lot worse, imagine if it was a pig's head rather than a cup n straw

what a hoo hah there would have been, we'd be closed down by now.

Is that the best this country's media can do omg

Really. Brain dead xxxx throws something at opposition players in a UEFA champions league play off and you're not bothered. We have some of the greatest fans on the world and a miniscule minority of scumbags. Who causes us the problems with UEFA, certainly not the good guys.
It's a papercup ffs, worse happens in primary school playgrounds on a daily basis.

Daft whoever flung it granted, but I refuse to get my knickers in a twist over something so fuckin innocuous.

Rangers took 150k to Seville without a single arrest so get off your high horse and stop trying to castigate the support.

Just watched the BT highlights of Leicester's win away to PSV last season. It'll be a lot more than paper cups getting launched at our players next week.

Yes, it was a paper cup, when does it become unacceptable. Plastic, glass?
These throbbers are cut too much slack. Why should the club be fined by UEFA (not saying they will be) for the actions of the brain dead. Bragging about no arrests should be left to the mentally challengeds. No arrests should be a given for normal people, not a badge of honour.

What a gutter rag the Sun is. Every bit as bad as BBC Shortbread type reporting on a huge European tie. Some demented hack sitting there scrutinising every frame in slow motion to come up with something. Maybe also spotted someone in the crowd swearing. Anyway, pray for the PSV players.

Why do people constantly bring up the Tims previous incidents when something like this comes up? %^*& them. They’ll always be scum and we should hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Granted, no one is going to die from a paper cup being thrown, but it’s still complete stupidity. What goes through people’s heads when they choose to launch stuff on to a football pitch?

Pity the poor stewards in this clip with all these missiles getting chucked at them.
Not condoning the ONE idiot who threw a paper cup but a wee bit of perspective wouldn't go amiss. I doubt the PSV players gave it a second thought.

Did Sunsport show the same concern last week at the Edinburgh derby with the " missiles " thrown at the Hearts player and did they ask Hivs f. c. for comment.....still no excuse for the clown in our support but.......

Absolutely no need for it, makes us look like those animals
Singing about killing British soldiers and smashing bottles into children's faces...aye, that's pretty similar to a paper cup being thrown to be fair.

Lowering ourselves to the rubbish they do, but you pick and choose your context. Starts with a paper cup and next thing it’s a Bucky bottle

PSV players were targeted by a missile as they celebrated opening the scoring against Rangers in their Champions League play-off clash at Ibrox.

The Dutch side took a 36th minute lead when Ibrahim Sangare fired home to stun the Gers support.

The players congregated in front of the Union Bears section of the stadium in the Broomloan Stand as they lapped up the strike.

But pictures clearly show a cup with a straw in it flying through the air towards them as stunned Gers fans watch on.

The game ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw after a night of high drama at Ibrox.

But the missile incident came just hours after the Ibrox club had sent a warning to all fans to behave themselves at the crucial match as Gers bid to reach the elite group stages for the first time since 2010-11.

Rangers had said: "We are looking to create a Blue Sea of Ibrox and encourage supporters to wear the famous Royal Blue!

"Rangers are incredibly proud of the amazing atmosphere that our fans create at Ibrox and supporters are encouraged to exemplify the best of our support to cheer on the team on the cusp of returning to the Champions League group stages.

"This game has attracted an unprecedented level of media interest and thus, wider scrutiny.

"Please ensure that you represent our club in the correct manner and be mindful of previous incidents in Europe which led to sections of our stadium being closed."

SunSport has contacted Rangers for comment on the incident.
Those paper cuts can be a bastard eh ?! B-D. In all seriousness, that was a stupid thing to do.

Has the sun attempted to contact the scum on scotlands and the worlds biggest sporting scandal yet?

Not condoning this for a second as it’s moronic.

However what’s at least equally moronic is the article. It starts off with sensationalist language using “missile” then a paragraph down it says “cup and straw”.

Imagine the article if it was orange juice in it…..

Not even comparable mate - someone throwing a paper cup is just someone being a shitebag, they're very unlikely to progress to a bottle of Bucky ffs.

Same shitebag that gets gallus next time and lobs a bottle because he’s feeling a bit braver and thinks it’s a laugh?

Don't agree with fans doing things like this. But a paper cup?, is taking it way too far, could of caused serious injury. And the straw??? Dread to think

Good point. The club needs to announce a policy whereby any fan found guilty of contributing to the action that got us the fine is responsible for a percentage of the penalty amount given. You could make it reasonable but also punitive enough to ban 99% of these incidents.

but still...
a paper cup??
really?
I reckon “reasonable” is 100% of the fine.

Tbh, there's a lot on here would have a serious injury falling off their high horse, it's so f**ken high.

There's more drama on here than the sun itself and that's saying something.
