Paper sinks to new low with shameful analysis of Rangers star

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has been on the receiving end of some of the most laughable coverage by Scottish papers since Gerry McNee pathetically used to refer to Paul Gascoigne as “Number Eight” – and The Herald have sunk to a new low in a bid to put the boot into the Colombian.

In their ‘Five Things We Learned’ from Gers’ win over Aberdeen at the weekend, there is one section dedicated to El Bufalo and the author should be utterly embarrassed to have committed such garbage to print.

It doesn't help when our Manager has said Alfie has a disciplinary problem. That gave the media a free rein to do their worst hatchet jobs on Morelos.

So you think the manager should try to suggest Alfie didn’t have a discipline issue? That would be risible and would not assist in improving the player.

However we should protect him from the abuse and lies printed about him and the racist abuse he gets. Instead we say nothing as a club or a support.

The final paragraph in the article kinda sums up why Alfie seems eager to move on when Gerrard could well be on the brink of success.

We do nowhere near enough to defend the lad. His treatment from others in Scotland is pretty nasty.

There has been Barely a day that he's been in this country when there hasnt been an article written about him. If it's not him it's his poor wife on the receiving end of the abuse and harrassment. Wasn't long ago Colombian drug cartels where used in an article written by one of those scumbags regarding Alfie. All of the moral crusaders that are crying about racism and discrimination now didn't bat an eye lid , funny that. Racism casual or otherwise only seems to matter to some in this country when the person on the recieving end aligns with their agenda. If not and if in particular you are a rangers player seems you are fair game.

Morelos is booked and red carded for offences that other players don't. We see that discrimination on a weekly basis in Scotland. The Manager should conduct any concerns with Alfie in private and not in public. Not doing so has allowed the media to relentlessly go after the Colombian.

It’s really embarrassing Morelos has never been sent off for violent play, just look what Brown has gotten away his whole career in comparison will be sad to see him go as it would have been lovely for him to settle his scores on the pitch.Scottish football will not come out well with this especially if Alfie goes on to bigger and better things.

If/when Alfie goes they will need a new target for their warped and hate filled agenda.

Kent would be my guess as to who they latch onto.

Sickening, embarrassing and backwards is the image a young Colombian will have of this country outwith Rangers fans.

That is incredibly sad in 2020.

Kent is an absolute certainty to be the SPFL's new pantomime villain when Alfie eventually goes. His goal celebration at the Piggery hasn't been forgotten by the media.

Twenty years ago I worked alongside a deranged Declan. He ticked every box - St Aloysius, Great-Grandfather from Donegal, Against Birth Control, Obsession with Rangers. This article is lifted from his “Play Book.”

There are numerous Declan’s in the media and their support.

Alfie was definitely off the pace but his intelligence drew out the centre backs for the goal and took them places they didn’t want to go all game

the level of journalism in Scotland is a disgrace and at an all time low

They will absolutely do this. Before Alfie it was Ryan Jack who was the target for cards of all colours. He was collecting reds on a monthly basis before Alfie took the job.

It's one of the main reasons the written press is dying on it's a*se. People are fed absolute horsesh*t as news. Anyone connected to Rangers is sadly seen as a target by the usual suspects. It's good that people are seeing past this crap.
Hagi will be next imo when Alfie leaves.

We could have nipped this in the bud two years ago. Only have ourselves to blame really.

they do it continually because we dont kick up anywhere near the fuss the other shower do,
We can kick up a fuss all we want, it wont make a difference.

They on the other hand have played the anti irish racism/ minorities card. So beloved by the politicians, media and the chattering classes.

Part of our recent statement from Stewart Robertson. Seems to only apply when directed at Rangers fans.

"We will work tirelessly to protect our players every single day and will not tolerate the abuse or hatred that some have had to endure in recent days"

Think Our manager is best placed to judge that situation. His discipline has let himself and the club down. No point in hiding that fact is clear for all to see.

We could as a support done a lot more to defend him. We haven’t for reasons we need to understand. He is a great player and we need to realise we will struggle to get better. Why have we not taken to social media and supported him? He has taken serious abuse not surprised he wants out of Scotland.

well in this case we should have been wiser and quicker off the mark and used the race card to our advantage with our player,

To be fair he's a rookie and too honest for his own good but he's learning about the scum media and reporters now.

This is one situation where Gerrard has judged the situation very wrong. He should have come out defending Morelos to the hilt and pointed out the clear double standards to which the Colombian is treated by both the refs and the media. I despise the Lurgan Lardarse, but there is no way he would have allowed any of his players to be treated by refs the way Morelos is by officials. He would have went after the refs big style.

Now let’s consider the different treatment of two footballers who play in the same city but for rival clubs. One, a young black lad brought up in poverty who moved thousands of miles from home to try and make a career for himself. He has been racially abused and harassed both on and off the pitch by fans of opposing clubs. He has been targeted for physical abuse by opponents and has been treated disgracefully by match officials who penalise him for trivial offences that go unpunished when others commit the same offences. And the media condone all of this. Despite this, he gives 100% for his club and donates huge sums to poor people in his home town in another continent.
The other, a white indigenous player, brought up in relative comfort who has been convicted of a racial offence, who regularly dishes out abuse to other teams under cover of ‘banter’ but when challenged throws in the ‘mental health’ card, is given chance after chance and receives not one word of condemnation from the media. And whose on-field offences that warrant severe punishment by referees are mostly overlooked.
Discuss!

He can’t defend him when he gets sent of due to his own behaviour.

He could and should stand up for him when he does behave. But easy to blame others, we as fans could do a lot more.

One set of fans bombard social media and set a narrative to support their player. They also set a narrative to demonise the other.

The other set of fans don’t do much at all. Except fight internally. Discuss.

No surprise it's from the Herald. Is it motivated by racism or anti-Rangers agenda or both. It was clear what Aberdeen's tactics were from the outset, at kickoff Bryson went out his way to barge Morelos but no surprise the journalist (I know don't laugh) ignores any of these facts. The football part of the story isn't interesting, insightful or news worthy but it is the targeting of Alfie that is a disgrace.

Never in the history of Scottish football has a player being talked down and his valuation questioned and rubbished

On a playing performance view , the French superstar who only scores in Scottish football but is somehow worth £30 million would love to have Morelos’s European goals on his CV
Larsson became World Class in Scotland don’t you know.

Once he does leave we can look forward to daily updates every time he misses a chance at training for his new club. Scum.

Can someone copy and paste to stop it getting the hits?

This rips ma knitting, by linking the story you are keeping these charlatans in a job and giving them an incentive to publish more shite about our players.

Ignore the above, I presume the link goes to a rangers site that has the original story pasted.
